About me

Thank you for visiting my profile.

I am a registered member of the BACP (British association of counselling and Psychotherapy), and I am a member of NCS (National Counselling Society) meaning you are assured that I am working with an ethical code of practice as a qualified counsellor. I am an integrative counsellor, which means I will use different modalities and methods when we are in sessions. I am a qualified Mental Health First Aider and Meditation Practitioner.

After seeking counselling, myself I saw first-hand what a difference working with a qualified counsellor could make. I was inspired, this fired a passion for mental well-being within and I knew I wanted to help others. I worked in my job supporting the well-being of my work colleagues and friends when I first qualified as a mental health first aider, but soon realised that my path was much wider and so I began my transition in to counselling.

When I am counselling, I have a feeling of being at home, feeling like its meant to be as I have a passion for well-being, and it is at the heart of everything I do. I currently work at a local NHS Oncology support unit, and I volunteer my counselling services to patients with cancer, cancer survivors and their families and the nurses who look after them. I am also a sixth form college counsellor part time, where I support staff and students in an education setting.

Why choose me to be your counsellor? Everything I do is focused on providing you with HOPE; and that is why I put HOPE, quite literally in my company’s name. I feel my commitment to you should be clear from the start of us working together. I will get to know you and understand your needs in a holistic way. You are an individual and as such I will treat you like one by making sure your counselling experience is tailored to meet your needs. I will walk alongside you and create a safe space for you to be able to explore those challenges in a non-judgmental way. Using a variety of techniques, I will work in a non-directive way to help you make positive and lasting changes. All our work will be confidential and any records I keep will be kept in accordance with GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations). I recognise that you may be a little nervous at the thought of starting counselling. Taking the first steps can be the most difficult. So much uncertainty. To try and make that easier for you I am offering your first session free. I will use that first session to show you what counselling is about, set expectations of what I can offer. You will then be able to make a decision if I am the counsellor for you and you can think about what you want to gain from our time together. Finding the right support for you is very important and vital. I would love to be alongside you, but you need to feel the same. Only then will we begin creating a therapeutic relationship together which will work through your challenges.

If you choose to work with me, I can create a counselling service to meet your needs. Counselling sessions can be short term, long term or as a single. Your therapy is as individual as you are, so at “Bee-coming, HOPE” I believe I need to collaborate with you to agree together what you want to achieve from your counselling sessions, how you want to achieve it, and how long that will last. Together we will assess when you feel your needs have been met through your therapy sessions with us. Each session lasts an hour, during that time I will hold a safe and confidential space for you to work through what you wish to do. I can deliver your counselling sessions in a variety of ways, in person, virtually via zoom or FaceTime, on the telephone, or through walking counselling sessions. You are the expert in you. “Bee-coming, HOPE” are there to use our knowledge of well-being interventions or techniques to support your counselling journey to making lasting changes. I believe that proactive and preventative well-being interventions are fundamental to getting the best out you.  I also offer Walking therapy.  Walking Therapy is all about combining mindfulness and counselling and is conducted whilst walking outdoors. During the walk, you lead the session, similar to a counselling session in a therapy room. At Bee-coming, Hope we believe that being outside offers some clients a less formal setting which they may feel to be a greater opportunity to express themselves, it often feels less intimidating than a traditional counselling environment. This is a great choice for those who may have felt struck in their therapy in the past or may be a good way to start counselling for those who feel anxious. We release healthy endorphins when we exercise so walking counselling aids our physical well-being and our mental well-being. It’s also a great way to connect with nature enabling a sense of positive well-being and calmness.

Time to talk sessions are also part of what I can offer. A mental health check in plan which enables you to check in with your thoughts once a quarter and give your mind a service.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
