About me

I am a highly qualified, experienced Transpersonal Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor, working in-person (and online) at a beautiful location in Central London by the canal in Little Venice, London W9, close to Maida Vale, Paddington, Notting Hill and St John's Wood.

I work with people experiencing depression, anxiety, low self-esteem and low self-confidence, stress, chronic illness, sexuality, and a range of other issues.

How we experience ourselves, other people, and the world in general, is unique to each of us. Through psychotherapy, you can make significant and lasting beneficial changes in your life, and I can provide the reflective space and conditions needed to explore what troubles you, and through this, gain the insight and understanding that enables you to make the changes you need.

My approach is integrative, which means that I strive to combine the best aspects of the various modalities of psychotherapy - Psychodynamic, Humanistic, Person Centred, and Existential - for the benefit of my clients.

Beyond this, I embrace the Transpersonal approach, which takes a modern view on issues of spirituality and what it means to be human, to be conscious, and our place in the Universe. Depending on the client, I might use art work, meditations, visualisations, sand trays, and any creative methods that help a client connect with their deeper sense of inner wisdom and knowing. I especially enjoy working with dreams.

My parents came to the UK from India in the 1960’s. I have a deep interest in issues of race, religion, and culture, within the framework of Intersectionality, and the challenges that can arise as a result, and this informs my work.

Training, qualifications & experience

B.A. (Hons) M.Sc. Dipl. Psych.

I gained my bachelors degree in Psychology at University.

After several years in the corporate world, I trained for 5 years as an Integrative Transpersonal Psychotherapist at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education (CCPE) in London, graduating with a postgraduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I am accredited with Full Clinical Membership of UKCP, and as an Individual Member of BACP and am bound by, and adhere to, the code of ethics of both organisations. I am also a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

UK Council for Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

My fees are £80 per session, but I also set aside a number of hours each week for low cost therapy, to ensure that those with limited financial means, including trainee therapists, can avail of the professional help they need.

If you wish to discuss the possibility of working together, then I will offer you a free 20 minute audio/video call to explore your therapy requirements and how I might be able to help you. It is also an opportunity for you to ask questions about therapy.

If we are both happy to proceed, we would arrange an initial assessment session, where we would take a more in-depth look at the challenges you are facing, and what you might need from therapy.
