About me

For adults and teenagers alike, being critical and doubting yourself is a lonely experience. A feeling of not being good enough can be isolating. Being lost to yourself or losing someone (or something) precious can feel overwhelming. I can help you accept these difficult emotions and choose a way forward.

I specialise in working with what deeply touches you and I help you to engage with your sadness, disappointment and pain. Together we can find a way through - your path may not be how you imagined it but it is what fits you in your life right now.

I can provide the space you need to feel heard and more in tune with yourself and how you'd like to live.

Inclusive and aware of the challenges of feeling different, I welcome you as you are. Neurotypical and neurodivergent. Cisgender, transgender and nonbinary. Individual. You.

My approach is relational which means I value building your trust and confidence in what we are doing. We create something uniquely designed for you and we go at your pace.

Calm and non-judgemental, my way of working fits who you are and what you need. Key to my approach is working with compassion - offering you this and, importantly, helping you find this for yourself.

As my client, you may cherish the chance to use mindfulness to learn how to feel more peaceful. As a coping strategy, this can help you feel grounded and more able to respond to what is happening around you.

I have lots of experience working with teenagers, young people and adults, as well as trainee counsellors (concessionary rate applies).

Reaching out for counselling can feel scary and uncertain - if you've got this far, well done. I recognise your courage in taking this first step - FOR YOU.

Feel free to contact me if you'd like to find out more. I look forward to meeting you and being alongside you as you discover a way ahead.

I provide open-ended and short-term counselling, including a 6 week block of sessions.  During our first session we talk through your issues, expectations and hopes and use the space for you to ask any questions you may have. Then we decide together on the way forward for you. There is no obligation to continue if it doesn't feel right for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I'd like to share my special interests with you, so you get an idea of my most recent training and experience.

Compassion-Focused Therapy for Trauma, Working with Shame in therapy/in the Treatment of Trauma, Shadow Side of the Feminine and Foundations of Shadow Work, Working with Gender Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Oppressive Practice, Working Creatively in Counselling, Setting Personal Boundaries, Existential approach to counselling.

I specialise in offering a compassionately-focused approach and this forms the basis of my counselling practice, whether we are working with shame, loss, self-doubt or a critical inner voice that drives you.

You may feel less than or not good enough in one or many aspects of your life; you may struggle to know what you need from others and fear letting them know. Being able to say this out loud and be really heard by someone is the first step towards understanding and accepting yourself and what you need from life.

This is what I offer and these are the areas that give me joy to work with. I welcome you to my practice and together we can find your way forward.

Now for the basic and important details: I speak both English and Spanish and these are my professional qualifications:

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I specialise in helping you treat yourself with compassion and discovering your own resources to do this. I can offer mindfulness exercises in our sessions to help you feel more spacious and grounded.

Together we look at how your thoughts, emotions and actions are connected and how this impacts you. We explore what you believe about yourself and how this may be linked to your past. You can be affected by both present and past experiences and sometimes it takes some help to piece the puzzle together.

After an initial assessment, we will decide on the focus of our work and what you would like to achieve. We explore how you are feeling and try to understand this. You may decide you'd like to make some changes to suit you. We will regularly review our focus and make any changes we think are necessary, and we will plan how to end our sessions together.

This will give you the resources to take care of yourself in the future. You can always book a check-in session with me later on if you need it.
