About me

Hello and welcome to my page,

You might be here because you feel overwhelmed and life has become quite difficult at the moment. I hope this information gives you an insight into how I work, and helps you in your search for support.

What I can help with

I support people with understanding and recovering from difficulties such as bereavement, anxiety, stress, low mood, lack of confidence/motivation, chronic illnesses, to name a few.

I often work with clients from multicultural and multilingual backgrounds, of which I also have lived experience, as a bilingual counsellor.

How I work and how I can help

My work with you would be focused on talking therapy, giving you the space to talk about your difficulties, understanding where they come from and how they impact your life.

In all my work, my approach to therapy is rooted in the belief that each person has the capacity to heal, given the safe, non-judgemental space to do so. You might have come across this type of support and it is called “person-centred therapy”, meaning that it is lead by your experiences and your needs from therapy. In other words, you are in control of your growth.

However, I know that this might feel intimidating at times and it’s potentially not what you want to hear when things feel “out of control” already. Experiencing uncomfortable or distressing feelings is very difficult, and it can feel even more overwhelming doing this on your own. Your therapist can guide you on how to do this safely and confidently.

Feelings are part of being human.

My role is to support you in finding what helps to make your life easier, authentic, and even enjoyable. To do this, during our sessions we might use exercises that help you identify your strengths, develop self-compassion, and ultimately achieve your goals for wellbeing.

During our first session we will use the space to find out what brings you to therapy. Depending on what is going on for you, we will identify together areas you wish to work on, which will be reviewed throughout our work together.

Training, qualifications & experience

MSc in Counselling & Psychotherapy (Keele University)

BSc in Psychology (Lancaster University)

Couples Counselling Training (The Counselling Academy).

Alongside my private practice I work as a Student Mental Health Mentor where I support students with difficulties such as procrastination, anxiety, exam/work-related stress and time management in creating a work/study-life balance that works for them. This informs my counselling work, should clients ever benefit from exercises that others found useful.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
