MBACP Trauma Informed Psychotherapist & Supervisor

About me

Welcome, I’m Alison 👋a trauma-informed Psychotherapist with a special interest in helping people navigate trauma, self-esteem, anxiety and relationships.

Here is a quick intro video to share a little bit about how I work https://youtube.com/shorts/bYhtLZgizGk?feature=share

I would like to have the opportunity to help you feel more authentically connected to yourself and others by providing a nurturing, compassionate and curious space, so you can find self-acceptance and healing.

Do you recognise yourself here?

  • You feel anxious, overwhelmed, or fearful
  • You often put yourself down and spiral into fearful, negative thinking
  • You feel “not good enough,” hopeless, or lost
  • You’re struggling to move on from loss, trauma, or a difficult experience
  • You have intrusive thoughts, flashbacks, or feel triggered
  • You feel unheard, unloved, guilty, or ashamed
  • As a child or young adult your emotions weren't discussed
  • You’ve experienced abuse or trauma and want to move forward without shame, confusion, or anxiety
  • You feel different, or you're wondering if you're neurodivergent
  • You are going through or have a diagnosis of Autism or ADHD and experience anxiety or burnout.

You don’t have to go through this alone. Exploring your experiences in a safe space really can help. It helps untangle and reform your experiences into something that feels way more manageable.

I can help you reduce overwhelming thoughts and feelings, build healthier boundaries, and create more secure, satisfying relationships.

Therapy with me is collaborative, compassionate and practical. We’ll work at a pace that feels safe and contained. I work using a person-centred approach alongside internal parts work, somatic inquiry, and draw from other theoretical approaches such as Transactional Analysis and Polyvagal Theory

Parts work can be very powerful as it can help you access parts of yourself initially formed to protect you, but may now be causing internal conflict, or holding you back in some way.

Alongside curious and compassionate inquiry, I can offer guided imagery, mind and body meditations, breath work, and other interventions to help you access more unreachable parts, so you can build a sense of self-compassion, self-acceptance, emotional regulation and better overall wellbeing.

Therapy can help you reduce anxiety, improve maladaptive relationship patterns, and heal past traumas.

I offer compassionate therapeutic support to help you regain a sense of wellbeing and autonomy, so you can make decisions and choices that benefit you and your relationships.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
