About me

You may be experiencing anxiety, stress at work, attachment issues, or relationship difficulties, these can be as a consequence of past traumas or adverse childhood experiences.

I am an integrative trauma-informed Psychotherapist, drawing from a variety of therapeutic models to suit each individual I work with. I have worked with individuals 18 yrs and above, facing a variety of challenges, such as; loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, ASD, identity issues, addictions, abuse, and disordered eating to name a few.

Together we can look at what has brought you to therapy, and I can offer you strategies to enable you to work through things that affect you on a day to day basis.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Underpinning everything in my practice, is the Person-Centred approach, whereby I work relationally, focusing on you and your needs whilst facilitating a safe, judgement-free space enabling you to bring whatever you feel you can in the moment.

I believe that the basis to any therapeutic relationship is trust and connection, and this creates a position from which we can begin our work collaboratively. Once this is established, it can be the conduit towards growth and healing.

I also work through a Psychodynamic lens, from which I may draw parallels to themes of repetitive patterns, recognising how past experiences impact current day events, and how these may manifest physically and affecting your mental health.

Having sought therapy myself when facing my own adversities, I have a profound understanding of the courage it takes to ask for help. I recognise the importance of being heard and understood, when this may not be something you are experiencing in other areas of your life. I pride myself in being attentive, empathic and holding, whilst taking a non- directive approach, enabling you autonomy in therapy, choosing the pace at which you wish to go.

My previous experiences in employment have informed my current therapeutic work; leaning towards a special interest in adoption and attachment issues, as well as family dynamics. I am equally interested in multicultural issues, due to my personal lived experience of growing up abroad, I  therefore have an understanding of what it is to adapt to different countries and cultures.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

I offer a 20 minute, free initial conversation over the phone to discuss what has brought you to therapy. If you decide you would like to meet, we can organise a starting date for a first session. At this session we can further explore what your needs may be and to see if we are a good fit.

Please feel free to email or text me with a brief outline of your enquiry, if this feels more comfortable.

Further information

After first contact via a phone call or email, we can arrange an initial session which will last 50 minutes. We can discuss your therapy needs and then decide if we want to start working together.

Going forward, sessions will be weekly and and last 50 minutes. I will check in every few weeks to see how therapy is going and if anything needs further exploration, we can mutually do this.
