If you think you might be interested in working with me, and you would like to find out more, please drop me a message and we can arrange a free 60 min chat.

During our conversation you can tell me a bit about what's troubling you, ask me any questions you might have about how I work, how it can help etc, and  get a sense of me - what I'm like, if you feel like I'm someone you could really talk to and if you get the sense that I'm the right person to offer you some support.

You can find out more about me via the Facebook page or on Instagram or via the website, www.aliharristherapy.com, where you can book your free initial chat now.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

Late ADHD Diagnosis

I have ADHD myself and I know what it can be like to have struggled all your life to do the things that other people can 'just do' - the shame & the frustration can do terrible things to your self-esteem.

I have learned that therapy can have a massively positive impact on your mental health - not just 'in theory' but by being in my own therapy throughout my training.

Therapy can also help ADHDers to make practical, effective changes - to help you to understand how to break out of procrastination, how to manage impulsivity, how to regulate your emotions so that you can create a happier, more satisfying life, and to begin to feel realistic, sure but also positive about embracing your neurodivergent identity.

Challenges inherent in parenting Neurodivergent children &/or Being A Neurodivergent Parent

Neurodivergence can make parenting an even trickier job than one might usually expect, and it can feel quite isolating when friends and family just don't 'get it'. I may not know exactly what neurodivergence is bringing to you and your family but I am personally and professionally VERY familiar with how these kinds of difficulties can impact on parents' and children's mental and physical health:

  • School Difficulties (Attendance, Regulation, Communication, Accommodations)
  • Family Dynamics
  • Self-Care as a Parent to ND Kids (Depression, Anxiety, Lack of Sleep etc.)
  • Home Education (Sometimes school doesn't work and that's ok, but again, lots of people just don't 'get it' or even seem open to it.

I don't have all the answers, but I won't judge you; I've been around this block personally and professionally MANY times, and I am ready, willing and able to support you on your journey, as you find the right way to manage things for yourself and your family.
