About me

Having a long term heath condition can impact on many different areas of your life and it can be useful to speak to someone about this impact. I would offer a supportive and non-judgemental space to discuss your physical and mental wellbeing.  Most of my clients come to see me having experienced a life changing event, whether this is a change in health, a trauma, or relationship or work transition.

I specialise in supporting people with physical health conditions such as; gut health conditions (e.g. IBD, IBS,  coeliac disease), food intolerances, disordered eating, pain, fatigue and cancer. I understand that these difficulties can interact with many areas of your life such as your mental wellbeing, social interactions, relationships, work, body image, confidence and self-esteem. It can often be hard to feel like you are living the life that you had envisaged. This is especially challenging when there are other life stressors to manage and can contribute to a sense of feeling overwhelmed.

I would work with you to recognise, acknowledge and respond to the multitude of thoughts, feelings and behaviours that arise. I can offer support and techniques to help navigate issues such as anxiety, stress, depression and trauma, while holding in mind the context of your physical health and other life stressors.

Please contact me for a free 15-20 minute conversation if you would like to discuss how I could help you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an HCPC registered clinical psychologist with over 15 years working in mental health. I work part time in the NHS and part time in independent practice.

In my NHS practice, I lead a gastroenterology psychology service and have previously worked in haematology, pain and sexual health services.

In both my NHS and independent practice, I specialise in supporting adults with physical health difficulties to improve their wellbeing. I would work with you to find the approach that would best address this.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
