About me
I imagine if you are looking for a counsellor you have a hope that your life can change and it is this hope that will help you take the next step. In these very uncertain times it has never been more important to look after our mental health as well as our physical health. I am an MBACP Senior Accredited Counsellor, a Supervisor and Trauma Specialist, registered with the UKRC and have over 20 years background in the clinical field. I have provided telephone and online counselling for many years, which is an excellent alternative to face to face sessions at this time. I offer professional care and support to individuals, couples and groups wishing to explore emotional difficulty or distress in a variety of issues. The overall intention is to help you to enhance your emotional health & personal well-being.
Working within the BACP ethical framework my aim is to provide a therapeutic relationship that enables you to feel confident and safe to explore and resolve issues which are driving your thoughts and emotions and limiting your life. I offer short term, solution focussed and longer term therapy as well as telephone and on- site support to individuals and organisations that have been effected by trauma and critical situations.
People generally seek out counselling and psychotherapy with a need to alleviate some current, on-going stressor or to address the root of a problem. The therapy will essentially assess where you are, formulate specific and realistic goals, and facilitate the process of you achieving these goals, or maybe to find a more satisfying way forward.
My approach is friendly whilst professional and my philosophy and practice is integrative. Informed by and experienced in several psychological theories including, cognitive-behavioural therapy and EMDR.This means that I can offer the type of therapy with individually tailored techniques to promote understanding, and enable change and well-being to follow.
I previously worked in the Priory Hospital as the Senior Counsellor on the Eating Disorder Unit this incorporated the 12-Step and CBT therapy programme of recovery for clients. I have also worked for one of the UK’s leading EAP’s (Employee Assistance Programme) in a dual role of Critical Incident/Clinical Case Manager. Prior to this my background incorporated working with children and families, counselling young adults in an educational setting and working with bereaved children, adults and families. I am also a BUPA and Aviva Recognised Therapist, meaning I can offer therapy to clients who are covered under these Insurance Schemes.
I am a qualified Supervisor and welcome qualified practitioners, groups or students to my practice. I can offer you creative ways of looking at your client work. If you are a health care practitioner, I can provide you with effective and creative supervision to enhance your work.
I have up to date DBS clearance
I work from a calm, comfortable, spacious, well equipped dedicated counselling room with a waiting room and washroom facilities. There are ample parking facilities.

Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
