Are you looking for someone to help you through a difficult time in a safe, private and confidential place?
I offer both short and long term counselling as well as personal development work.
I am a humanistic therapist which means that I believe we are all unique, and that each of us has the right to autonomy and respect. I offer a safe, caring and respectful relationship where I endeavour to give you my best attention and respect at all times. I believe that everything about us, even our symptoms, pushes for our well-being.
Sometimes unresolved past issues and patterns of relating interrupt this and you may need someone else to help you seek resolution. It may be that you are experiencing difficulties in relationships or through life events such as bereavement or illness, and having someone to talk to can support you through your difficulties. It could also be that you have experienced trauma or abuse in your history that significantly impacts on your life now.
I am very committed to working with you to facilitate change and ultimately to help you find more peace and fulfilment in life.
Training, Qualifications & Experience
Grad Dip in Counselling, MBACP (Accred)
I am an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by their Code of Practice. I am also a UKRCP Registered Independent Counsellor/Psychotherapist. Please note: an Accredited BACP member would have undergone a rigorous process of accreditaton and is a competent practitioner.
I am a trainee member of the Gestalt Psychotherapy & Training Institute (GPTI) and abide by their Code of Ethics and Professional Practice.
I initially trained in Person Centred Counselling and I am currently studying Gestalt psychotherapy.
I hold a Certificate and a Graduate diploma in Person Centred Counselling.
I have completed 3 year CORE training in Gestalt Psychotherapy (postgraduate level) and I am in my fourth (final year) leading to a Diploma in Psychotherapy, UKCP registration and GPTI accreditation.
Additional Qualifications
Certificate in Rape Crisis Training
Certificate in On-line Counselling
Positive Parenting Programme (Accredited facilitator)
Additional interests and areas of study include trauma and attachment.
Additional Experience
For the past 5 years I have been working as a counsellor for a charity that works with survivors of rape and sexual abuse. I am a counsellor in private practice and I also work as a counsellor for a single parent charity.
