Lisa Woolfenden, Registered Member, MBACP, Dip.Couns.
Hello, my name is Lisa, I’m a qualified registered counsellor based in Knutsford. We have all faced times in our lives where we have encountered struggles and are overwhelmed, not knowing how to move forward or need help to find the right coping strategies for our needs. Therapy offers a chance for you to speak to someone about what’s troubling you and offers an opportunity to be able to work together towards the results you may desire.
I have a calm presence, warm and approachable and believe that offering a safe and comfortable environment will enable you to talk about whatever you feel you want to explore and work through. I pride myself on being real, honest and deeply empathetic and able to work with you at your own pace. I will work with you using a variety of different techniques which are flexible to your needs as I believe everyone and their circumstances are unique which require a personal and honest approach.
Some approaches that I use are evidence based including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) which helps to explore your patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviour and to explore these for a more positive mind-set. I am also trained to share the technique of emotional freedom technique (EFT) which is used to help reduce anxieties, phobias and offers a sense of calmness. I am also able to work with you using creative therapies to help you explore feelings and relationship dynamics; especially if you find it difficult to express with words how you are feeling and allow you to experience different perspectives on yourself and your relationships and changes that you may like.
Whether you are looking for a safe space to talk, explore your thoughts, feelings or behaviours, relationship dynamics or self-identify then I will work alongside you during your process and adapt my approaches to benefit you the most in the hope that you’ll be able to take away with you new ways of coping, comfort or positive changes to meet your needs.
I have experience of working with those who have been affected by cancer; including patients, family members, friends and carers and how this has impacted on them in so many different ways. Other areas of experience include loss, self-identify, anxiety, depression and self-worth and how to move forward or gain different perspectives.
I offer 'walk and talk' counselling sessions as located near Tatton Park which provides a lovely space if you would prefer to be in the outdoors surrounded by nature. This is often very peaceful and provides a sense of well-being and calmness.
Please feel free to call me to see if we can work together on whatever is happening in your life. Just taking that one small step to help yourself takes courage and I am here to listen and work with you at this particular moment in your life.
