The Rock Clinic East

I started counselling in 1995, mostly within a mental health charity. I work with individual adults and have experience working with a wide range of issues. In the NHS between 2003 and 2012 I developed specialist interest in Pain Management, Long-term Physical Conditions especially Breast Cancer and Cardiac conditions, Medically Unexplained symptoms and Trauma, where I worked as a Counselling Psychologist in multi-disciplinary teams.
I supervise doctoral clinical and counselling psychology trainees and qualified psychologists, psychotherapists and counsellors. I sometimes run Mindfulness and Positive Psychology based Health and Well Being groups for people who are interested in those approaches.
I generally prefer to arrange a first meeting by email, and I am happy to answer any questions at that stage. The initial meeting is so that you can tell me what you have sought help with and you can see if I am someone you think you could talk to about the issues that concern you. If we agree to start your counselling we will then arrange your first session. At that initial meeting you will be able to ask any questions you may have about the counselling process or the therapeutic approach that I use.
I work face to face on a weekly basis, but when that isn't possible I offer sessions online. I can work short term (6-10 sessions), but I prefer to offer counselling in an open-ended arrangement as it is very difficult to predict in advance how many sessions anyone will need for counselling to be effective, as there are so many factors involved.
I know that it can be very daunting to make contact with a counsellor however, your initial email and any other contact with me remains completely private and confidential.
