About me

We can find ourselves trying to cope with difficulties on our own, feeling overwhelmed, alone or unheard which may cause feelings of isolation, anxiety and sadness.  The counsellor and client need to work together for the therapy to work at its very best, it is important you feel comfortable with the therapist you choose to enable you to feel safe, heard, and supported. My hope is to make counselling feel accessible by offering warmth, respect and a friendly, calm and welcoming environment.

I work with adults and young people who have feelings of Sadness, Anxiety, Distress, Hopelessness and Loneliness. GAD (Generalised Anxiety Disorder), Depression,  Panic Attacks, Low Self-Esteem, Low Self-Confidence as well as: Family Issues, Relationship or Work Issues, Bullying, Self-harm, Trauma, Bereavement, Grief, Loss (and more).

It may be that you feel your relationships are not working as you would like them to, perhaps you would like to understand yourself better,  maybe you are a carer or parent of a young person who is experiencing difficulties and would find it helpful to talk things through.

There are many situations where it can be helpful to talk with a counsellor.

I have a wide range of personal and professional experience and believe that with appropriate support we all have the ability to achieve a greater understanding of ourselves and how we relate to others, thereby becoming more able to face and deal with our difficulties. I also believe we each have a unique capacity to find the answers within and so heal ourselves.

I can help people gain a greater awareness of what triggers anxiety, panic and other debilitating feelings. This greater awareness leads to an increased understanding of what is happening and thus help one to feel more in control.

I have 40 years experience in healthcare and trained as a nurse in 1981. I have worked as a Complementary Therapist alongside General Practitioners and through listening and observing clients making changes in their lives, I came to appreciate the value of Counselling and Psychotherapy in supporting people’s overall health and wellbeing.

Counselling is usually shorter term work whereas Psychotherapy is longer term. Both can help by exploring issues from the past which may be affecting individuals in their lives now. Psychotherapy, however, works on a deeper level and profoundly explores the roots of issues.

I work in a person-centred way, which means putting your needs in the centre of any work we do together.  I am a fully qualified Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist. Integrative means I work using different approaches that are tailored to meet your specific needs.

I offer a confidential, safe and non judgmental space in comfortable rooms in Brixham, Devon, where disabled facilities are available. I help people work through their difficulties, to help them access their innate positive potential. I also help people gain a variety of new tools and techniques to help them take personal responsibility in choosing to make changes, in order to live a more fulfilling life.

"It can be our greatest gift to ourselves, to give ourselves the opportunity to explore what we want in life and how we would like our life to be. Becoming aware of limiting thought patterns and unwanted behaviours and exploring where these have come from can bring a sense of enormous relief and release."
