As a qualified psychotherapist with over 15 years' experience of working with individuals, couples and groups of all ages, I draw on a variety of approaches to suit the individual needs of my clients. My extensive experience in many areas of mental health, and the broad spectrum of skills I have gained means I can help my clients to feel safe as they explore what can often be frightening or overwhelming life experiences.
I help my clients with a variety of issues including, but not limited to:
- Relationship difficulties (couples or families)
- Personality disorders
- Issues with food
- Abuse (inc. Domestic abuse)
- PTSD and traumatic experiences
- Exploring issues from childhood.
I work one day a week as a therapist for a leading charity (SAFA), that provides counselling and support for people who self-harm or have eating disorders. I also deliver their training in Self-harm and Suicide Awareness to front-line professionals across the South Lakes.
What to expect on your fist visit:
The first session is about gathering information about you and your concerns, and beginning the therapy process. It's also an opportunity for us to get a sense of whether we feel we can work together.

Training, qualifications & experience
I have trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches as I don't believe the 'one size fits all' approach to therapy is useful for my clients. I prefer having a well-stocked tool bag of expertise and skills so that I can use whatever's appropriate at any given moment. This means I may include dream work; hypnotherapy or relaxation techniques; Cognitive Behavioural techniques(CBT); Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP); Inner Child work; or Core Beliefs.
I am also a Transpersonal Psychotherapist. This means that I am comfortable exploring spiritual issues, particularly around suicide, death and dying. However, if you have no spiritual or religious beliefs, we would stay within the bounds of secularism and not discuss spirituality in any way.
My therapy related qualifications include:
- Dream Therapy
- Equine Assisted Psychotherapy
- Inner Child Therapy

Please feel free to call me if you would like to discuss your needs prior to making an appointment.
We are meant to enjoy life. To be happy and free to live and express ourselves without fear, to love and accept ourselves, and to connect in a meaningful way with others. For many, the ability to achieve these fundamental life experiences is blocked by trauma, fear, grief, loss or emotional disturbance. These blockages can manifest as depression, anxiety, anger, phobias, addictions and many other physical, emotional and mental health problems.
Working with a professional, experienced therapist can help you to find a new perspective as you search for your own resources for change.
My book, 'Who's the Boss of You?', explores limiting core beliefs - how they were created in childhood and continue to sabotage our lives as adults. Available on Amazon.
