I am a qualified counsellor with over twenty years experience In helping individuals and couples.
I am on the BACP Accredited Register for Counsellors & Psychotherapists.
I offer both short and long term counselling to individuals and couples. Some times the sessions continue for only six weeks, at other times for longer periods of time. This is always agreed at the initial session.
I have experience working with a wide variety of areas including:
- lack of self esteem
- infant loss
- infant loss including miscarriage
- family issues
- work place problems
As a Relate Trained Counsellor I have a experience of helping both individuals and couples . Over the years I have supported many clients to find ways of leading more fulfilling lives and more fulfilling relationships. However, when couples decide to separate I try to enable them do so with kindness and a lack of recrimination.
I was trained as an Integrative Counselling which means that I am able to adapt my therapeutic approach to suit my clients particular needs. Some clients find it easier to work in a more creative way. However, my work is always supported by a psychodynamic approach and an extensive knowledge of theory and modern research.
I work from a dedicated counselling room in my home which has a separate entrance. This ensures a private and confidential place, where my clients can relax and feel safe in a warm supportive setting.
I offer a free initial consultation which allows my clients to decide if counselling is the route they wish to take.
If you feel that you would like further information, please do not hesitate to contact me on the numbers above.
Training, qualifications & experience
I originally trained to teach Art, I have taught and have worked in a special school for children with behavioural problems.
I completed a three year 'Diploma in Integrative Counselling' at Hereford Technical College. Following this I joined Relate and completed the 'Relate Certificate in Marital and Couple Counselling'.
I worked with Relate as a counsellor, and at one time as a manager, for approximately thirteen years. I left Relate to focus on my private practise. Also, during this time I completed a years certificated course in 'Drama Therapy' with Worcester College. This was not only great fun but gave me an insight into a more creative way of working, which can be helpful to my my clients. However, I believe that my length of experience is my greatest strength, as I have been working with both individuals and couples over 20 years.
I am on the 'BACP Accredited Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists'.
