Dr Grieve is a consultant clinical psychologist who has a special interest in the assessment and treatment of psychological disorders including PTSD and complex trauma. However, all other psychological difficulties will be considered for treatment.
Dr Grieve works with adults and children and adolescents of 12 years and over.
Dr Grieve has undertaken clinical work both in the private sector and for the NHS.
Dr Grieve has completed private clinical and medico-legal reports for large public sector organisations and also for local solicitors. He has been commissioned to provide clinical reports for large financial institutions as part of employee return to work proceedings.
Dr Grieve has extensive experience of assessing a wide range of mental health problems by psychometric objective assessments and by clinical interview with general adults and young people. He also has experience of working with translators.
Training, qualifications & experience
Dr Grieve gained a BSc (Hons) in Psychology in 2003 and completed his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Edinburgh University in 2010. He is a chartered member of the British Psychological Society and is a registered Clinical Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council. Dr Grieve is also an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society.
Provision of psychological assessment and therapy to individuals with complex mental health problems using cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).
Conducting therapeutic interventions including cognitive behavioural therapy, solution focused therapy and eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing therapy (EMDR: trained to level 4).

- Senior therapist on an MRC funded multi-site randomised controlled trial of EMDR in people with learning disabilities. This was a UK wide study and was organised through Edinburgh Napier University.
Dr Grieve has comprehensive experience of working with children and adolescents and this has been through supervised placements on doctoral training, as well as post-qualified experience of working with children and adolescents over 12 years of age. Dr Grieve also developed the protocol for the randomised control trial of EMDR in adults with learning disabilities. The protocol was based on a large body of trauma literature in children and he is now very familiar with this literature and how trauma work differs in its application from adults to children.
Dr Grieve also has experience of supervising a CBT therapist who worked exclusively with adolescents. Dr Grieve has lengthy experience in working with neuropsychological rehabilitation and has worked with severe head injury and issues of anger management and adjustment to permanent disability.

All fees for clinical practice are charged at £120 per hour. For therapy cases this includes a brief assessment and discharge letter to your GP and the administration and scoring on any psychological test measures.
