About me

I am a consultant clinical psychologist and have a special interest in helping people with different issues including PTSD and complex trauma. I also help people with many other difficulties including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, low self-confidence and OCD.

I work with adults and children and adolescents of 12 years and over.

I have experience of working in the private sector and for the NHS. I have been working in private practice helping people for many years and people have found my services to be very helpful. The main approach that I use is CBT and this can be effective in helping to resolve a number of difficulties.

I have recently completed specialist training in aviation psychology and work with pilots and cabin crew.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a BSc (Hons) in Psychology (2003) and completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Edinburgh University in 2010. I am a chartered member of the British Psychological Society and am a registered Clinical Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council. I am also an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society.

Clinical Experience

I have provided psychological assessment and therapy with people with complex mental health issues using cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).

I have experience of helping people with cognitive behavioural therapy, solution focused therapy and eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing therapy (EMDR). I am trained to the top level for EMDR.

I have completed training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

I also have experience in the following areas:

  • Supervision of Clinical Psychologists and MSc students
  • Training and consultation to professionals
  • Completing personal injury work for national private rehabilitation companies
  • Being a reviewer for an international peer-reviewed journal
  • Previous Associate Editor of the Clinical Psychology Forum. This is the most widely read journal by Clinical Psychologists in the UK
  • Being the senior therapist on an MRC funded multi-site randomised controlled trial of EMDR in people with learning disabilities. This was a UK wide study and was organised through Edinburgh Napier University.

I have comprehensive experience of working with children and adolescents and this has been through supervised placements on doctoral training, as well as post-qualified experience of working with children and adolescents over 12 years of age.

I have lengthy experience in working with neuropsychological rehabilitation and I have worked with severe head injury and issues of anger management and adjustment to permanent disability.
