About me

Hello, I'm Trisha and I am a qualified experienced counsellor offering a welcoming, accepting, and confidential space to talk about what’s going on for you. My aim is for you and I to build a trusting relationship, where you can feel safe to look at issues and concerns that might be getting in the way of your day to day living and perhaps interrupting how you'd like to be living.

Maybe you feel something is holding you back, perhaps you’re feeling sad and down, angry, or anxious or a mixture of all of these and more. Are you struggling to understand how mixed up you sometimes feel?

I have a background in supporting people with "everyday" problems as well as those living with continuing mental health difficulties. We can explore whatever comes up for you in the safe, calm and compassionate space I offer, and I will listen without judgment.

For some of us, just the act of telling your story to a counsellor in a confidential space, and being listened to, can lead to a sense of relief, self-understanding, and self-awareness. This in turn can help you to make positive changes in your life and relationships.

I know contacting me or any counsellor might be fear-provoking but you’re here, reading these words and that’s the first step. The next step, when you feel ready, is contacting me by phone or email, whichever feels comfortable for you. We can arrange a time to have a chat and see if you’d like to make your first appointment.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have an advanced diploma in integrative counselling. This means I trained in a combined approach that brings together different elements of specific therapies.

I take the view that there is no one single approach that works for everyone in all situations. I think each person needs to be considered alongside their individual circumstances, environment, and relationships. Our counselling sessions will always be tailored to your individual needs.

Although my advanced diploma is in integrative counselling,  I also trained for 2 years in person-centred counselling, this means that I believe you are the expert in your own life and you have the skills to find your own healing changes within.  Counselling can help you tap into those skills and the inner resources you have so you can use them to live the way you want to live.

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy) and this means I work under their ethical framework, I also have regular Supervision (where any client work I discuss is anonymous), this helps to ensure that I always work with your best interests at heart.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I offer up to a 20 minute chat for free. I offer this because I feel it's a helpful starting point for you to see if you want to move forward and make a first appointment. There is no obligation attached.

If you do want to make a first appointment, I'm available for online counselling using Zoom and I would email you a link on the day of our appointment.

Online counselling means I can offer sessions without either of us being dependent on living local to each other. I can also offer counselling over the phone or via WhatsApp if you’d prefer.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
