About me
Phone/Online sessions £45 • Face‑to‑face £55 • Free consultation - Adults & Children/ adolescents (11yrs+)
(on annual leave 20/08/26-02/09/26)
You don’t have to do this alone. I support adults and children /young people (11 years and over), experiencing anxiety, trauma, neurodiversity, loneliness, low self esteem, and long‑standing relational patterns. My approach is warm, steady and grounded, helping you feel safe enough to slow down, breathe, and explore what’s really going on.
I offer online counselling to adults across the UK, including Liverpool, Merseyside, Lancashire (Southport, Formby, Birkdale, Ainsdale), Essex, Norfolk, Scotland (Edinburgh & Glasgow) and beyond.
Face‑to‑face sessions are available in Formby. Birkdale sessions incur an extra £10 external room charge.
How I work
My approach is relational, compassionate and collaborative. I believe therapy works best when it comes alongside you rather than directing or analysing from a distance. Together, we explore your experiences, emotions and patterns in a way that feels steady, safe and grounded.
I work in a trauma‑informed way, with an awareness of how overwhelming or painful experiences can affect the nervous system, relationships and sense of self. I pay close attention to what is happening for you in the present moment, as well as how past experiences may be influencing your current ways of coping.
As an integrative therapist, I draw from a range of approaches depending on what feels most helpful for you, including:
Person‑centred and relational therapy – creating a safe, attuned relationship where you can be fully yourself
Attachment‑based and psychodynamic – exploring how early experiences may influence current patterns
Body‑aware and grounding approaches – supporting emotional regulation, safety and connection with the body
Reflective and exploratory work – making sense of thoughts, feelings and experiences with curiosity and compassion
Therapy with me is not about being “fixed” or told what to do. It’s a space where you can slow down, feel supported, and explore what’s happening in your life with someone who is fully present with you. Over time, this can help you develop greater clarity, self‑understanding and choice in how you move forward.

Children & young people counselling (11 years and over)
I also work with children and young people in both state and private school settings, as well as within private practice. My approach with children and young people is warm, attuned and developmentally‑aware, helping children feel safe enough to express themselves in ways that feel natural through talking, play, creativity or gentle exploration.
Common areas I support include friendship difficulties, school refusal, school‑based worries, exam stress, self-harm, transitions (such as moving schools or navigating adolescence), self‑esteem, and the emotional impact of feeling different or misunderstood. I also work with disordered eating patterns, helping young people explore their experiences with sensitivity and care while ensuring appropriate safeguarding and multi‑agency support where needed.
Above all, I aim to offer a space where you don’t have to hold yourself together or have the answers. Therapy can be a place to reconnect with yourself, feel understood, and move forward with greater clarity and compassion.

Background
My original professional background was in accountancy. However, over time, it became clear that my interests and values lay elsewhere. I was increasingly drawn to people, relationships, and the emotional and mental worlds we carry, which led me to volunteer with NSPCC/Childline and later work there in a paid counselling role.
Experience/training
I am an experienced and qualified integrative psychotherapist, having supported a wide range of clients over many hours of clinical work. I have worked with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, and difficulties arising from negative or harmful relationship experiences.
Alongside this, I have significant experience supporting clients presenting with complex emotional needs and varying levels of risk. I am comfortable working at depth while maintaining clear professional boundaries, a strong focus on emotional safety, and a compassionate, client-led approach.
Through my work, I have developed a deep understanding of how past experiences can influence present relationships, patterns, and ways of coping, and I aim to provide a safe, supportive, and reflective space for clients to explore and make meaningful change.
I hold an Enhanced CRB / DBS certification and am committed to ongoing professional development, reflective practice, and regular clinical supervision in line with best practice and BACP guidelines.
Membership bodies
- Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I work in a compassionate, relational way, offering a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship in which you are met with respect, care and understanding. I work at your pace, guided by what feels right for you, and where appropriate I will gently offer challenge to support reflection, growth and change.
I offer both short-term therapy (typically 6–12 sessions) and long-term, open-ended work, depending on your needs and what you are hoping to explore.
I believe therapy works best when it comes alongside the client, recognising that life naturally has ebbs and flows. Therapy can therefore be a space that supports you during particularly challenging times, as well as something you return to as and when needed.
Feedback from clients over the years has highlighted the impact of feeling truly seen, heard and therapeutically held. Many clients are surprised by how quickly a strong therapeutic relationship can form, and by the sense of safety this creates, allowing them to open up and explore what is happening for them in a meaningful and supported way.
There is something uniquely freeing about being able to speak openly with someone who is not part of your family or friendship network. In that space, without roles or expectations, people often find the freedom to truly explore themselves.
