About me

I am a fully qualified experienced counsellor and therapist. I offer warm, understanding, down-to-earth counselling, in a safe and non-judgemental space in which to think and talk openly, about your concerns, and worries. Where there is freedom to explore thoughts, feelings and behaviours that may or may not be working for you. As your counsellor, I offer you a safe, confidential space where together we can work through these areas of your life, moving towards an understanding of what has taken place.

I have been counselling in various settings since 2013. I believe it is vitally important to be flexible and adapt to each individual; with my work focusing on the therapeutic relationship which is vital to obtaining a good outcome. I work in a trauma-informed way, conscious that many difficult feelings and experiences can be hard to talk about. As well as being grounded in Person Centred Therapy I use an Integrative model and can tailor sessions to your particular needs always keeping you, the client, at the centre.

I am currently studying to complete my MA in Integrative Psychotherapy, with on-going CPD. I have a passion for working with people who have experienced trauma, supporting those living with anxiety and depression, resulting in low self-esteem and self-worth.

About Me

BACKGROUND

Before training to become a counsellor/psychotherapist I worked in industry for many years, experiencing how stressful working environments and relationships within those environments can be; with project deadlines to hit and meetings to attend, pressure on the individual becomes immense. The trauma of this kind of pressure, can impact our lives, I understand why being able to talk outside this and other stressful environments is so important.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
