About me

Hello, I’m Stella, an English and Mandarin-speaking counsellor and psychotherapist. I am registered and accredited with UKCP, currently work in private practice and in the NHS.

Therapy with me is an invitation to explore what feels difficult while also recognising your strengths, values and potential. I cannot take away the pain, but I can support you in discovering your inner resources and building the capacity to meet life’s challenges with awareness and compassion.

Difficulty and struggle are part of life, but they don’t define who we are; it’s how we respond that matters. The way we meet challenges shapes our resilience and growth and becomes part of our unique journey.

It’s okay if you are not sure where to begin, if you feel stuck, or are uncertain what you need. We can take it step by step, at a pace that feels safe for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Registered and accredited Psychotherapeutic Counsellor with UKCP ( UK Council for Psychotherapy)
  • Working towards professional accreditation with BABCP ( British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies )
  • Clinical experience across NHS mental health services, higher education, and private psychotherapy practice
  • MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy, University of Warwick
  • PgDip in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Coventry University, NHS pathway (in progress)

My Approach

My practice is integrative and relational, as I believe the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for growth and healing. Having engaged in over a decade of personal psychoanalytic therapy, I understand the courage it takes to begin this journey and the profound transformation it can bring. This lived experience informs the compassion and depth I bring to my work.

My work is shaped by both professional training and the lived experience of building a life across cultures. I work with an intersectional perspective, paying attention to how aspects of identity, such as race, gender, sexuality, class, and immigration status, come together to shape our experiences.

I welcome people from all walks of life into my practice. I have a particular interest in working with individuals exploring identity, belonging, and cultural experiences, including those navigating diaspora, migration, multicultural backgrounds, and life between cultures. I also warmly welcome neurodivergent individuals , and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

How We Work

  • Frequency & duration: Sessions are usually held weekly. I typically work with clients for at least 6–12 months, allowing time for trust to develop and progress to unfold at a steady pace. Short-term work is also available.
  • Languages: I offer therapy in English and Mandarin Chinese.
  • Location: I currently offer online therapy to clients in London and other UK cities; I have limited availability for in-person appointments in Coventry.
  • Ethics: I engage in regular supervision, and my practice adheres to the UKCP Ethical Framework to maintain high professional standards.
