About me

Hello, my name is Sophie Hunt MBACP dip.

I am a qualified and registered, Humanistic Integrative counsellor, working in Sussex. I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy). I provide individual 1-1 counselling to adults 18+, through my private practice The Blissful Fox Counselling.

Please note that at this moment in time, I am only able to offer online and/or telephone counselling.

Why Counselling?

You may find yourself interested in counselling for the first time, or may have had experiences with counselling before, but never the less, it can still seem like a scary thing at first, especially when choosing to be honest about what is happening in your life, and the whirlwind of emotions and concerns that may be challenging you.

Talking to someone about what is going on in your world, takes courage, especially when opening up your world to another and trusting in them. I am very passionate and dedicated to my goal of supporting individuals from all walks of life, of all ages in whatever brings them to consider starting their counselling journey. We all have our own very unique reasons for attending counselling and in my role, I wish only to build a therapeutic alliance and support you in talking through your thoughts and feelings, in confidence, in an effort to provide a place for you to reflect on patterns of thinking, difficulties, or even what you feel is holding you back and preventing change.

My Approach:

I am a Humanistic Integrative counsellor, with a core focus in Person-centred therapy. This means I value the different schools of therapy, appreciating each for their own philosophies and unique methods they bring to psychotherapy, and using them when appropriate. At my core however, I am person-centred, believing that my clients autonomy should always remain at the front of the work that we do together as you bring me into your frame of reference.

I am fully DBS checked and hold public Liability Insurance, as well as am required to complete 30 hours minimum of continued professional development per year to ensure that my practice remains informed and nurtured so that I may provide a safe and ethical service to my clients. I am also registered with the ICO, where I take the storing and collection of your data very seriously.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
