About me

My name is Sarah Kennedy and I am a Qualified Therapeutic Counsellor based in Jersey, Channel Islands.  I offer face to face counselling or as an alternative I can also offer online or telephone counselling for those that simply do not have the time due to busy life schedules to be able to visit a Counsellor or feel safer speaking from the comfort of their own environment.

I offer a safe, confidential and non judgemental counselling service based in Millbrook, Jersey. With a therapy room overlooking views of the ocean, this creates a calming and relaxing therapeutic experience for us to a build a trusting relationship together and to explore what you wish to bring to the sessions in a tranquil environment.

Alongside my private counselling practice I also work as Lead Counsellor at a local counselling service for sexual assault and rape supporting survivors with trauma alongside managing a team of trauma informed counsellors and Trainee Counsellors. Leading up to my current position i worked at a local family centre as a Facilitator and Keyworker. My work involved working with families as a means of support and guidance and also Facilitating Self Awareness, confidence and self esteem programmes.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I am trained in Integrative Counselling, so I can offer a wide range of different counselling methods to suit the client .

My preferred approach is Person Centred. I believe that every being holds their own answers within them. By building a trusting relationship we can journey together to find the answers.

Carl Rogers (Person Centred) believed that there is one human motive in life and that is the actualizing tendency where humans move towards their ultimate self with growth and fulfilment with their own potential.

All sessions are client led and as an integrative therapist I am able to use a variety of approaches, working flexibly to suit the needs of each individual client.

All sessions are confidential and non judgemental
