About me

Thank you for taking the time to visit my profile.

Seeking counselling may feel daunting, but it can be the first step to positive change. I am here to guide you through that change process at a pace that suits you. My name is Sally Brice and I am a qualified counsellor and a member of the BACP,  working in Colchester, Essex.

I provide a space for reflection, to allow you to work out what you want from your life and how to get the most out of it.

Modern life can feel overwhelming at times, our sessions can provide you with a calm place to explore your emotions and understand yourself better.  We are all unique human beings and sometimes life, work and our relationships, can distract us from who we really are.  I will guide you, to bring you back to you.

If you are ready to make changes in your life,  I am ready to listen and support you on your journey.

I really appreciate this is a brave first step and I look forward to hearing from you.

My Service

I am a person centred counsellor, which means there is a humanistic approach to my work with my clients. Person-centred counselling was founded by Carl Rogers who believed that, given the right conditions, a person can reach their full potential and return to their true self. I also incorporate Psychodynamic and CBT into my work. I believe that our past experiences can effect our present life situation and the Psychodynamic approach can take us back into the past to unlock the present. CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) can be more goal led and helps us explore thought patterns and challenging our old beliefs and habits, it can be particularly helpful for clients who may be suffering with anxiety or depression.

Appointments are at the same time each week, unless otherwise agreed.

I offer a free (no obligation) 30 minute assessment session where we can get to know each other and see if I am the right counsellor for you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
