About me

Over several years I have worked successfully with a range of people from all cultural backgrounds, sexual orientations, and gender. Some of the reasons you might reach out to a counsellor like myself are if you may be:-

feeling stuck, distressed, experiencing grief, or anxious. Perhaps you are questioning your sexuality or have intimacy, personal or professional relationship issues. Or you may simply be feeling lost, wondering who you are and what it is you want.

counselling can offer you the space to explore all of the above and more in a confidential setting.

I am an Integrative Counsellor: meaning I work in a way that draws on several modalities. The primary modalities that form the foundation of my practice are:

Psychodynamic - exploring the impact of early childhood on adult life.

Person-Centred - the belief we will grow if we are given a supportive and compassionate environment.

Together we will work through the difficulties you are experiencing at a pace and depth that is appropriate for you. I work in a holistic way while offering both support and challenge in a non-judgemental way to enable you to move forward through your issues. Our sessions will be collaborative and built on a connection that is respectful, creative, and most importantly safe.

I believe that the ‘therapeutic alliance’ - our relationship - is what makes therapy work. So choosing a therapist you feel you can work with and feel supported by, is most important.

The initial consultation is a space to explore what has brought you to therapy, to see what it is like to talk with me and how we can find a way forward to support you. I can also answer any questions you may have.

If we choose to work together, your sessions will be at the same time each week. We can agree to a fixed series of sessions, or leave it open for the longer term, and we'll have regular check-ins to make sure you are getting what you need.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
