About me
Hello, I’m Paula — a qualified, experienced counsellor offering a calm and compassionate space for adults, children, and families.
I understand that choosing the right counsellor can feel overwhelming, especially if past support didn’t feel like the right fit. That’s why I offer a warm, down-to-earth approach, creating a safe relationship where you feel heard, accepted, and supported — without judgement.
I work with a wide range of issues, including:
• Anxiety and panic
• Grief and bereavement
• Childhood or adult trauma
• Depression and low self-esteem
• Relationship and family difficulties
• Children’s emotional, social, and sensory needs
• Support for families affected by illness
I am Cruse Bereavement-trained, with six years’ experience helping people navigate life after the death of a loved one. I understand how grief can impact every part of life — emotionally, physically, and relationally — and I bring a deeply compassionate and steady presence to this work.
I also work part-time as a counsellor in a large primary school, supporting children aged 5–11. This role gives me valuable insight into the emotional world of children and the day-to-day realities they face at home and at school.
School-Based Therapy
I offer school visits, where I work with children in the familiar environment of their own school. These sessions can be arranged by parents, schools, or funded by charities, and I’m happy to liaise directly with SENCOs or pastoral leads to ensure smooth collaboration and continuity of care.
How I Work
Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, grieving, or unsure where to begin, I offer a supportive space to explore your experiences — gently and at your pace. We’ll work together to understand your feelings, patterns, and needs, in a way that feels meaningful and manageable.
My approach is inclusive and affirming of all identities and backgrounds. I welcome neurodivergent clients and offer a flexible, responsive way of working based on what you need.
Next Steps
I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation so you can ask any questions and get a feel for how we might work together. You’re also welcome to email if that’s easier.
Everyone deserves support in a space where they feel respected and understood. I’m here to walk alongside you.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
