About me

Sometimes life can be difficult, we can find that current events as well as events from our past can affect our lives and the decisions we make leaving us wondering how we came to be at the place we now find ourselves. This can cause us to struggle without really understanding what the problem is or why.

Talking to a qualified and experienced psychotherapist can help us explore what is going on for us and help to lessen the load. This can then help to relieve some of the stress and tension we have with ourselves and those people close to us.

Using a talking therapy like counselling provides a safe space for us to look at our problems in a confidential and non-judgemental way.

I am often asked about the difference between counselling and psychotherapy, I differentiate the two by training and experience. Counselling can be a shorter term therapy dealing with issues that a person is currently facing whereas, psychotherapy tends to be a longer term exploration of what is going on for a person looking into more areas of life and the psyche at a deeper level.

I am an integrative counsellor and my approach is based on insight therapy. I work with a client to help them understand how their beliefs, thoughts, feelings, and experiences from their past impact their present state of mind. This can be relevant because past experiences and feelings can create a ripple effect over time.

I also have an invisible disability that has affected my life, so have experience of what it is like to be diagnosed, and the impact this can have on everyday life, such as work, finances, relationships, and on mental health. I am also a registered carer for a family member.

If you would like to consider psychotherapy then give me a call on 07901 334899 or email me  to arrange an initial consultation. During this consultation we usually explore what brings you to therapy at this time. You will also get a sense of me and whether you feel I am someone you could work with.

I offer short-term (6-12 sessions) as well as longer-term work.

At the moment my practice takes place online.

Training, qualifications & experience

I qualified as an integrative counsellor in 2013 with a level 4 diploma in therapeutic counselling, I followed this on with continual professional development and operated my own development group.

In 2018 I qualified with a level 7 diploma in trauma therapy using several therapy models including Gestalt, Psychodynamic, humanistic and transpersonal therapy at NAOS institute in West London.

I have continued my professional development and training in many areas of counselling and psychotherapy such as trauma, depression, anxiety, bereavement, self-esteem and family systemics.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
