About me

Hello! My name is Norma, I work online only at present, thank you for viewing my profile.

Making the decision to look for help and support can be very daunting. I am very glad that you have made that step for yourself.

Are you struggling with thoughts and feelings that you can’t quite make sense of?  Experiencing low mood, anxiety, maybe lack of energy, overwhelmed, or confused? Maybe you have experienced life changes such as relationship breakdown or difficulties in your current relationship, work issues, financial loss, bereavement, or bereavement of a loved one from suicide?  Life changes can have us question our sense of self and how we function in day-to-day life.

If you are ready to take this step, I can help you explore your thoughts and feelings in what is happening for you.   I provide a safe, warm space for you to talk at your own pace.  Friends and family can be great listeners but sometimes certain thoughts and feelings can be difficult to share?

I work in the Integrative Model which means I take from various therapeutic approaches.  This allows me to tailor our work to help us meet your individual needs.  My aim is to help you find clarity, restore your sense of confidence, wellbeing, and empowerment.  To help make your life manageable and enjoyable again.

I am a qualified counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).   Also, a member of the Association for Counselling and Therapy Online (ACTO).

If you feel you would like to reach out to me, I offer a free 30-minute session to talk over what brings you to counselling and what you feel you need from your sessions.  This can help you decide if you feel comfortable with me, and if I am the right fit for you. Choosing your counsellor is an important decision and what feels right for you.

Thank you again for viewing my profile.  If you choose to work with myself or another counsellor, I wish you well on your counselling journey.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I have many years of experience supporting people bereaved by suicide. An often very isolating grief which can often carry stigma, confusion, guilt, shame, anger and many other conflicting and distressing emotions and thoughts.   I feel that having time and a safe space to be able to talk about this very difficult loss can help to aleviate the profound sense of initial shock and disbelief and confusion.
