About me

Sometimes, the things we struggle with in the present have deeper roots. Perhaps you find yourself repeating patterns in relationships, feeling anxious or overwhelmed, struggling with your self-worth, or finding it difficult to understand why you feel the way you do. In my practice, you will find a safe and supportive space where all parts of your story are welcome. This is a space where you can speak openly, without fear of judgment, and where even the most awkward or difficult questions can be asked. Sometimes it is these very questions - the ones we avoid or struggle to voice - that open the door to new understanding and meaning in our lives. My priority is always to ensure that you feel comfortable, accepted, and empowered to bring your whole self into the room.

The therapeutic relationship is at the heart of our work. A trusting and genuine connection enables you to talk freely about your experiences, whether past or present, and to explore the patterns that might be holding you back. Together, we can make sense of your feelings, behaviours, and relationships, and begin to see how your past has shaped your present. From this awareness comes the possibility of change: new ways of relating to yourself, to others, and to life.

As a Finnish therapist practicing in the UK, I have a deep professional and personal understanding of what it means to experience 'otherness' - the complex feeling of being foreign, caught between cultures, or navigating the world as an outsider. My practice is firmly rooted in Nordic principles and philosophies of well-being. The name Onni means happiness or contentment in Finnish, and it reflects the heart of my work: supporting you in finding more ease, clarity, and connection in your life.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified integrative psychotherapist with a background in psychology (BSc) and child development and learning (MSc). I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

I draw on Attachment theory, Somatic practices, Gestalt, Psychodynamic approaches, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to tailor therapy to your individual needs. I don’t believe in a “one-size-fits-all” model. Instead, I offer a flexible, creative, relational approach that is designed around you, your goals, and your personal journey. Whether you are navigating a period of transition, grief, healing from trauma, or simply seeking more clarity and meaning, your growth and well-being are always at the centre of my practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I support adults dealing with a wide range of mental health challenges and trauma, often shaped by early life experiences and family dynamics - an area I’m especially passionate about. My other areas of focused interest include parenthood, trauma, gender, culture, sexuality, and the experience of otherness. These themes often bring up complex emotions and challenging questions, and I welcome the opportunity to explore them with sensitivity and openness.

I also run grief groups which offer opportunities to spend time outdoors, walk alongside others who have experienced loss, and learn more about grief in a gentle and informal setting. There is no expectation to share. You can simply walk, listen, reflect, or talk if that feels right for you.
