About me

I’m a fully qualified therapist with experience in working successfully with a very varied client group:

Depression ~ Anxiety ~ Panic Attacks ~ Low self-confidence ~ Anger ~ PTSD Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) ~ Bulimia & Anorexia ~ Trauma ~ Addiction

When working with clients, I believe that offering a warm, accepting approach free of judgement creates the ideal foundation for good therapeutic work. I believe each client is unique and therefore cannot be pigeon-holed into fitting any one model of therapy. Therefore, I create a tailored treatment plan collaboratively with each client. In addition to exploring and, in turn, gaining a clearer understanding of the emotional and psychological challenges that my clients are experiencing, I also introduce practical steps to help empower them to facilitate change.

In addition to this, I’ve always been driven by a desire to promote positive change, and in more recent years have become particularly interested in a field of study called Neuroplasticity, and specifically, a method called Super Able Mind.

What is Neuroplasticity?

Our brain has a unique ability to learn and unlearn, for example it has the ability to unlearn negative behaviours, thought patterns and responses and learn new ones in their place. We can train or re-wire our brain to change its structure and teach it to function in different ways.

What is Super Able Mind?

The Super Able Mind method has been developed using all of the principles of Neuroplasticity, packaging them into a method that is simple and effective for all ages. The method is taught as a course over a period of 12/16 weeks. I have done a separate training in this method and have been teaching it with a keen focus on school children and young adults, with incredible results. The responses have been heartwarming and I believe the tools these children and adults are given through the process of working together will be tools that will help them navigate life at large.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
