About me

Hello, my name is Marlene Jenas, I a person-centred Counsellor / Psychotherapist. I am a member of BACP (MBACP), and I specialise in Bereavement Counselling. I have been working successfully with bereaved adults for the past 10 years. Even though I specialise in working with Loss/Grief. I also work with clients experiencing other life challenges or mental health issues like Anxiety, depression, stress, low mood or self-esteem.

I work with individuals, couples, families and young adults.

I am warm and welcoming whilst having a keen curiosity to support those who are in need of someone to listen, hear and validate their individual experience/s.  Loss could be from someone dying, a broken relationship, loss of a job, or home, abandonment, being left as a child or other life events. Maybe you would like to talk about building your confidence and self-esteem after a major life event which has left you doubting yourself. This could be just becoming a new mum and being out of the workforce for a while, it could be through ill health. So many events can happen each day that can leave one feeling less than good enough.  I understand that at times one can become anxious about what the next event will be like, or even face a new day.  Low mood or depression can become a recurring feeling and you are putting your best outside but inside your world is colliding because nothing seems to work out the way you thought it would. Each day can become another challenge. These feelings and emotions can be linked to a loss of one kind in your past.

I take the time to engage and listen actively to what my clients have to say, which is key in our professional working relationship.  I will take the time to hear how events in your life have impacted you and work with you to build on your inner resilience over time.  With my support over time which can differ for each person you can hopefully gain the power to accept yourself, to feel and know you are enough. To learn how to forgive yourself and gain a deeper understanding and connection as to why you may be feeling anxious, panicky or having a feeling like you have lost the connection with yourself.

My experience partnered with my compassion, empathy, caring, genuine and patient nature offers unconditional support without judgement.

Our society and those we hold dear in our lives can teach us so many negative ways to view ourselves, from a very early age. We do not consciously choose to adapt but we do. Eventually, we can find ourselves in a place we do not feel comfortable and because we have not been taught how to love and accept ourselves.  This can lead to many mental health issues and without effort we buy into the many stereotypes and labels.

Without judgement great learning, awareness and understanding open the door to us becoming a version of ourselves we feel is missing.

I will provide a safe place where you will in time feel safe enough without having to edit what you talk about. The sessions can be weekly or fortnightly. Regular and weekly sessions work best, however, your personal circumstances will be taken into consideration.

After your initial contact which can be by email, text message (SMS, WhatsApp) or a phone call. I will arrange a free 15-minute phone consultation. Where you can ask questions you may be curious to learn about. This could be about counselling, how I work or any other concerns or anxiety you may be having about starting counselling.

It is of great importance to choose a Therapist/Counsellor you can work with.

After our phone consultation. If we decide we can work together.   We can set a day, date and time for our first session. Once the day and date and time are set this will be your day and time for the duration of our work.

The cancellation policy, how you pay for a session, and how we meet for sessions via zoom, phone or face-to-face will be discussed once we have decided to work together.

Looking forward to speaking with you soon.

Thank you for taking the time to read through my profile, I would like to wish you the very best

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
