About me

What I Can Help With

Hello, my name is Lucy and I specialise in helping people who have experienced a bereavement or other life changing loss such as the loss of a job, a relationship or health. I can also help if you are struggling with feelings anxiety, stress or depression which we can also experience when we lose someone or something important to us.

From my own personal experience, I understand how hard it can be to believe things will ever get better and it may feel as if all the lights have gone out in the world right now and will never come back on again.  But with help and support you can find your way through the darkness, one glimmer at a time.

How I Work

I am what is called an Integrative Counsellor which means I incorporate different ways of counselling so that our work together is tailored to your individual needs and preferences. How we all experience difficulties such as grief, anxiety or depression is as unique to each of us as our finger prints so by drawing on different ways of supporting you, we can work in partnership to find the ones  that feel right for you.

I provide a safe, confidential and caring space where we will work through the things you would like help with, one session at a time and help you explore different perspectives and  find new strategies that help your reconnect with the world and live the life you want to. I also believe in your ability to find your own answers so rather than give you advice, I will instead  help you to find them. The journey to wellness is not always an easy one but I'm here to walk beside you and we will travel at your pace and in a way that feels right for you.

What Will Happen When I Contact You?

On receipt of your enquiry,  we will arrange a date and time for an initial free of charge telephone or online call where we will talk about what you would like help with . I will then explain the different ways I can support you and answer any questions you may have so you can see how you feel about us working together.  Before our first session, I may also send you a short questionnaire to help me get to know you as person  and tailor our work to meets your needs and preferences.

If you would like to have walk and talk sessions, our first appointment would be an indoor in-person session so that we have the opportunity to meet each other.  Your safety and wellbeing will always be my utmost priority in whatever way we work together, so after our in-person session, I will complete a risk assessment of the area we will be walking and email this to you before our first walk and talk session.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
