About me

Hello, I'm Lucy and I help people over 18 who are struggling after a bereavement or the loss of something important to them such as a job or relationship, and support them through the difficulties these life-changing losses can generate. I also help people who are struggling with feelings of anxiety, depression or stress which can cause us to feel overwhelmed by some of our thoughts and feelings or take away things like our self-confidence, sense of direction or purpose in life.

I offer a caring, supportive and confidential space where we can work through the things that matter to you and explore different perspectives and new strategies  to help you heal, move forward and feel well again.

From my own experience, I know how daunting it can sometimes be to reach out for help from a stranger, particularly if you’ve never had counselling before, so we will only ever work in a way that feels right for you and at a speed that feels safe and comfortable.

Although things may be difficult right now and it might be hard to see a way through what's happening for you, with help and support it really can get better.  I won't be able to give you specific advice or tell you what to do as I believe in your ability to find your own path and your own answers and will instead work with you and help you find them, one session at a time.

What Will Happen When I Contact You?

Finding a counsellor who you feel is the right “fit” for you is one of the most important things in counselling so I offer an initial 30-minute telephone session, which is completely free, so you can see how you feel about us working together.

On receipt of your enquiry,  I will telephone or email you so we can arrange a date and time for the call to explore what you'd like help with and what you'd like to achieve from counselling. I'll then explain the different ways I can support you so we can decide together what would be most helpful to you.

If you would like us to work together, we will then arrange our first session which can be in person, telephone or online. I also offer walk and talk appointments subject to availability.

Training, qualifications & experience

I started training in 2017 and have been counselling since 2018, first as a student counsellor and then after qualification in 2020. I’m a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethical framework and highest professional standards.

I hold the following qualifications and as well as my private practice, have a lot of experience working in hospices and a cancer charity as well GP surgeries as a Health and Wellbeing Coach

  • Level 5 in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
  • Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling (BACP Accredited)

  • Mindfulness Practitioner Certificate

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
