About me

My integrated approach is driven by the core principles of the Person-Centred Theory. However, I offer other theories and interventions to underpin my work and give me and my clients further ways of understanding the difficulties they experience. My approach is informed by Attachment and Psychodynamic Theories, CBT, Spirituality and Creative Interventions.

My aim is to help clients understand how their self beliefs and resulting coping mechanisms can lead to: anxiety, depression, anger, low self-worth, intrusive thoughts and general difficulties in managing their emotional world.

I am committed to coming alongside every client; respecting each individual, their experiences and choices. I seek to help clients better understand themselves and find the rest, freedom and opportunities that arise out of this understanding.

I work with adults in private practice and have worked at TIC+ (Teens in Crisis) in Gloucester, and prior to this at Cotswold Counselling in Cirencester for 4 years.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have 6 years of working experience, having worked at Cotswold Counselling, Teens In Crisis and in my own private practice.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

If you would like to discuss having Therapy with me, please email me or call my mobile. I will get back to you to arrange an introductory telephone call to find out a little more about what you hope to get from Therapy. If you decide to go ahead we will then arrange a first session. This session will be an opportunity for us to find out a bit more about each other. I'll be asking you a few questions to help us find out whether the type of counselling I offer will be helpful for you. It will also be an opportunity for you to ask me any questions you may have. If we decide to work together we will plan in six sessions initially and then agree where to go from there.
