About me
Introduction
My aim is to come alongside you - to really listen and understand how you experience life. My hope is to help you make sense of your experiences and associated symptoms, such as: Anxiety, Depression, Anger, Low self-esteem, Patterns of behaviours or Coping mechanisms which may no longer helpful. In so doing, my aim is to help you discover new ways of being, feeling and relating both to yourself and to other people. I work collaboratively - taking into account what you want and need and how you want to work. I will also offer insights and suggestions if I think this may be of help to you, without directing our work together.
My approach is grounded in a Compassion Focused Approach, and Person-Centred Theory. This means that I offer compassion and acceptance to all of your different feelings, thoughts and behaviours. This, in turn, helps you develop your own understanding of what it means to be you and come to your own conclusions about how to navigate your way through challenges.
Free 15 minute telephone call
On enquiry I will arrange a 15 minute call with you - so you can get an idea of how you feel about the possibility of working with me and so I can get an idea if I'm best placed to help you. If you decide you'd like a first session to explore counselling with me we will make the arrangements together.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
Our first session will be focused on what brings you to counselling and what you hope to get out of it. It will also give you a taster for how it might feel to work with me and whether the type of counselling I offer will be helpful for you. It will also be an opportunity for you to ask me any questions you may have. If we decide to work together we will plan in six sessions initially and then review the work.
