About me

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my profile.

I'm Leon, an MBACP registered therapeutic counsellor (long winded right?) and my goal is to offer you a supportive and reflective space, to explore any troubles you may have. We all struggle at times and I can certainly understand how challenging life can be. If you value warmth & compassion, instead of being labelled or diagnosed, then please feel free to get in touch.

I offer in person counselling from my designated counselling room in Hampton Hill and Notting Hill. I'm also well equipped to work remotely via, Phone or Zoom; however I always work from my designated counselling room regardless. So you can rest assured that we have a private and confidential space.

What is counselling?

I believe counselling is a reflective journey, where we can explore any issues or problems that may be troubling you, past or present.

Upon this journey your story and emotions may ebb and flow. The direction may change and the final destination may not be what you expected. Sometimes therapy can feel tough, however, I’m sure we can weather the storm together and navigate towards calmer waters with a more settled horizon in sight.

I have an integrative and holistic approach to my work; my training has offered me the flexibility to draw upon a variety of theoretical approaches such as Person-Centred, Humanistic, Psychodynamic, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis.

My approach

We are all individually unique, so I don't believe that therapy is always a 'one size fits all' mentality. My training, background and vast life experience gives me the flexibility to shift, accommodate and truly connect with my clients. Whatever your individual needs or personal circumstances may be. I see this as a 'bespoke' or made to measure, approach, with the client firmly at the helm.

Alongside my work I am committed to on-going professional development and further training to ensure my knowledge and experience is up to date. Being immersed in learning, self-development and awareness assists me in offering the best possible service for my clients.

Experience

I have worked with a wide range of people from teenagers to adults, from various social and economic backgrounds.

Whist in my training, I volunteered for a large mental health charity in London. Working with adults with mild to moderate mental health challenges together with conducting clinical assessments.

I also volunteered for Off The Record – in Twickenham, this local charity is close to my heart and provides the only free counselling service for young people aged 11–24 in the Borough of Richmond upon Thames.

After this I concentrated on working within addiction and recovery. Exploring how to reach complex service users and strengthen community networks in the attempt to build upon positive recovery capital.

In more recent times I have been working within a holistic cancer support setting, gaining valuable experience with end of life clients and bereavement.

If you feel I may be the right counsellor for you then please feel free to get in touch.

Thank you for reading.

Training, qualifications & experience

CPCAB L5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling

CPCAB L4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

My course was highly experiential, meaning that the learning process was taught through high levels of participation that remains embedded within me. We did not just learn the subject and skills. We lived and breathed it!

I believe this is very true to life, we are all forged in the 'fire' of our own process and a product of our unique and personal life experience.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

If this is you’re first time considering therapy, I understand the anxieties you may be experiencing. I recall my first time reaching out, I was out of my comfort zone and didn’t know where to begin, this is fine. You may be curious and have questions or would like to know a little more about the process or my approach. This is all quite natural and understandable, I would invite you to get in touch. We can have a chat to ‘break the ice’ with no obligations. I feel that finding the right counsellor for you is important and I like to give people the time to think and make their own Informed choice. Theirs certainly no ‘hard sell’ or ‘gimmicks’ here ; however, if you have happy to move forward with therapy, I would be more than happy to make further arrangements where together we can explore your presenting problems, expectations of therapy and intended goals.

Fee/Personal Investment

I charge £60 for a 50-minute session.

Upon occasions, I'm able to operate a consession for counsellors in traning.
