About me

How can counselling or psychotherapy help?

Life is challenging and taking some time out for yourself to talk to a therapist  can help. It can feel scary or uncomfortable to reach out for support but taking that leap of faith could give you a chance to choose a new direction in your life.

I am a down-to-earth psychotherapist offering you a confidential space to tell your story.  I am based near Crystal Palace/Anerley, southeast London. Originally from the North East, I have lived in London for over 12 years.  I work with and have a particular interest in areas such as bereavement, anxiety, depression, self-esteem,  OCD, abuse, existential questions, trauma, redundancy, and relationship difficulties. Clients often come to me when they feel stuck and unable to move forward in their lives, when they find it hard to cope following a death of a loved one, or when they feel that they are not good enough.

I will support you in making sense of the struggles that you are facing in your life and relationships with your family, partner, colleagues, or friends.  The way we think, feel, and act as an adult is often a result of our childhood, our relationships, or our experiences that we have or lack of them. I will work together with you to help you understand how your past experiences or relationships continue to impact your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours in the present. At times unexpected thoughts or feelings may surface, but these will help you to begin to understand your relational patterns and fears as your awareness increases.

Therapy with me will also examine and clarify your assumptions, values, beliefs, and aspirations about yourself and the world you live in culturally and socially.  Therapy can help develop self-awareness and promote a greater understanding of who you are.   It is a process, and it can take time to work through things that are difficult.  But in this process with me, you could begin to let go of what is holding you back, perhaps take a new direction in your life, and find a new meaning and way in life.

I provide 50 minutes sessions either short-term (usually between 6 and 12 sessions) or on a long-term open-ended basis. There will be opportunities throughout the therapy to explore how you think the therapy is going and to think about how long it continues. In the initial session, you’ll get a sense of how I work and whether I’m the right fit for you. We can discuss what it is that you are looking for from therapy.

I also work with young people (16-25)  in the charity sector. My former work life was in the tourism and entertainment sectors.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Masters (MSc) in Integrative Psychotherapy (Distinction) from London's renowned Metanoia Institute. I have over four and a half years of experience and continue to work across the charity sector.

Other training:

  • Clinical Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy - Metanoia Institute
  • Foundation Certificate in Psychotherapy and Counselling-  Regent’s University, London.
  • Training in Loss, Complicated Grief, and Traumatic Bereavement.

I am also a qualified yoga teacher and may incorporate breathing techniques into our sessions to help with anxiety and regulating emotions if this is something that you are interested in.

I continue to undertake ongoing CPD.  I am supervised regularly by a senior psychotherapist.
