About me

It's common to encounter difficulties in life, no matter if they are minor concerns or significant obstacles such as grief, panic attacks, or separation. Together, we can work to overcome any challenges you may be facing.

I use a gentle and non-directive approach called person-centred therapy. This approach provides a secure, supportive, and non-judgmental environment that can assist you in working through any issues.

A special note on counselling for males

As a male counsellor specialising in person-centered therapy, I provide counselling services for adults of all genders. However, I recognise that some men may find it challenging to seek help when dealing with mental health issues. In today's society, men face unique and complex challenges, and I aim to create a safe and supportive space where men can openly explore and address their mental health concerns without fear of judgment. I believe in the power of vulnerability and strive to make my clients feel heard and understood.

In our sessions, I will work collaboratively with you to navigate the complexities of your emotions, thoughts, and experiences. Whether you're grappling with stress, anxiety, depression, or other mental health challenges, my goal is to assist you in developing coping strategies, fostering resilience, and promoting self-discovery.

I recognise the importance of acknowledging and validating the unique aspects of your experience, and I am committed to helping you build a foundation for positive change in your life. Together, we can embark on a journey of self-exploration, growth, and improved mental well-being.

I don't believe in hard selling to clients, so there is more about me below if you need further information. Reaching out and speaking is more important than reading reams about a counsellor's background.

Whatever you choose, I wish you well on your unique journey.

Practice description

My training is in integrative counselling (integrative means that I have multiple ways of working with clients). Though I work primarily as a person-centred counsellor,

Person-centred counselling is a philosophy of counselling described as gentle but powerful. At its heart, it believes that clients are the best experts on themselves, and it adopts a non-directive approach and relies on the inherent power of the client. Many studies have demonstrated its efficacy in helping people grow and overcome challenges.

I have worked with people from all walks of life, including adults of all ages, children, ex-offenders, students and teachers. Working with a vast array of issues, including grief, anxieties, health issues, relationship issues

I am an accredited member of the NCS and a registered member of the BACP.

My first session

I provide a free 30-minute initial consultation as I think it is essential for clients to feel comfortable with their counsellor.

In this consultation, we can discuss what you would like to work on or whether you would like to see where sessions will lead. I can give a fuller explanation of how I can work with you.

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
