About me

I understand that it can be daunting to approach a therapist for the first time, but you are very welcome! Perhaps you are burdened by a particular difficulty that you can identify, or perhaps you are simply not thriving, feeling overwhelmed by the past or anxious about the future, without knowing how to find your way through. I strongly believe that everybody’s feelings and experiences matter, no matter how big or small, and that we all have a deep need to be heard. I believe that everybody has the power to heal and enjoy life again, and my aim is to help you on this journey.

I offer a confidential, compassionate, non-judgemental environment where you can talk about what matters to you and be properly heard. Together we can identify problems, patterns and feelings, helping you to shake off your burdens and move forward with new lightness, insight and confidence.

Please get in touch to arrange a free 20 minute introductory consultation when you feel ready. Here we can discuss your needs and arrange a first session if you choose to proceed.

Training, qualifications & experience

I take an integrative approach to therapy, meaning that I can tailor my skills to suit your needs.

I am trained in psychodynamic therapy, which explores how past influences, experiences and relationships shape us, sometimes resulting in patterns of feelings and behaviour that we are not consciously choosing, and may be harming or holding us back.

I am also trained in person-centred therapy, which seeks to help us self-actualise and thrive in the here and now.

I have a strong interest in mindfulness, trauma and the physical manifestation of mental distress, where emotional burdens may be held in the body and cause damage of their own.

I use tools from cognitive behavioural therapy, which seeks to challenge negative and harmful thought patterns.

I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their Ethical Framework. I have experience in dealing with a wide range of problems; no problem is too big or too small to bring.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
