About me

Specialising in outdoor 'walk and talk' therapy/ecotherapy. Sessions also available online or face-to-face indoors at Castle Park Arts Centre in Frodsham or in Runcorn old town at Space Runcorn.

About you

Do you sometimes feel lost, out of place in the world or like you have lost touch with the real you?

Maybe you start each day dreading what is ahead, feeling isolated from other people or struggling to do the things you need to do or want to do. You feel like you’re dragging yourself through each day.

Perhaps you experience feelings of loneliness; perhaps you lack confidence in yourself to create the life you want. Things that used to bring you joy now seem flat and pointless.

You may have experienced losses in your life. Not only the grief of bereavement, but maybe the breakdown of a relationship, loss of a job or role in life, loss of some part of your identity, loss of health or mobility. Loss is at the root of so many issues that can leave us struggling.

If any of these strike a chord with you, you are in the right place.

My practice

I explore losses with clients in a gentle and accepting way,  accompanying clients on a journey towards being able to enjoy life, to thrive, even while we know that difficulty and loss will occur.

The natural environment plays an important role in my work with clients. I like to work outdoors in areas of woodland, waterside, hill and heath in and around Runcorn and Frodsham in Cheshire. Places where we can connect with natural cycles, with a world outside of ourselves and with the environments we evolved to be in. Nature offers an expansive space in which clients can express their most difficult thoughts and feelings and feel held and nurtured. A place where we can explore the big questions in life.

Working outdoors adds an additional healing element to my approach, which is grounded in the principles of empathy, warmth and acceptance. I offer you a space where you can experience the magic of being fully heard and understood and accepted as you are. This approach guides you to connecting with your own wisdom about who you are, how you relate to others and what you want in life.

I also provide sessions online or face-to-face at premises in Halton or Frodsham and the choice of how we work together is yours.

I seek to empower each client to find answers within themselves in an environment which nurtures exploration and development. The therapeutic space is your space. Your space to express your thoughts and feelings fully without fear of judgement. Your space in which your pain can be expressed, acknowledged, accepted. Your space to explore who you are and what is important to you in life. We may also explore early life experiences that have had an impact on you or defence mechanisms you use to cope. We may look at patterns of thinking that affect your emotions and actions.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I offer a free 20 to 30-minute initial consultation by phone so that we can explore the possibility of working together. This is your chance to get to know me a little and decide if I feel like the right therapist for you, and my chance to get to know a little about what brings you to counselling and how I feel I may be able to help.

Following that, we can arrange a first session online or face-to-face. If you are interested in working outdoors, we will usually have a first session online to more fully explore what brings you to counselling and what you would like to get out of it before we arrange further sessions to take place outdoors at a place and time agreed between us. In circumstances such as poor weather we will meet online instead.

Sessions are all 50 minutes and cost £45. I offer a concessionary rate of £39 to counselling students.

I aim to collaborate with clients around accessibility to outdoor spaces so please get in touch if you would like to discuss this.

I check my email and voicemail Monday to Friday at least once a day and aim to reply to enquiries within 36 hours unless I am on holiday. Alternatively, you can use the 'Book intro call' at the top of the page to directly book a slot for an inquiry call.
