About me

Seeking a counsellor can be a daunting process. Maybe you’re struggling to maintain nourishing connections or you’re feeling overwhelmed or have experienced a recent loss. Sometimes, it’s difficult to understand what may be at the root of feeling depressed, conflicted or unfulfilled. I can work with you to find your own insights and strengths, enabling you to move towards more freedom in your life. I recognise and value the importance of feeling met within a safe and trusting relationship. Having a sense of safeness within the relationship, between us, is at the core of effective therapy.

Similarly, I understand there are times throughout our lifespan that a kind and supportive relationship, can help us understand ourselves more deeply. If we start by being easy and gentle with ourselves, caring for and being able to understand more fully, can pave the way for more fulfilment. My aim is to facilitate a path that leads you to new discoveries, within an unbiased and confidential setting.

Although I can help with many challenges, I’ve specific experience and training working with trauma and sexual abuse, and I work at a pace, led by you. I understand the impact of these experiences and I work supportively and sensitively, to gently explore together. It maybe that you’re feeling anxious or low, and old patterns or habits that no longer seem to work for you, need some reflection. Working collaboratively, I cultivate a mindful and inquisitive approach along the way.

Originally from Ireland, I’ve lived here in the UK for 25+yrs now, having previously lived in North America and in the Middle East. It’s from my own life experience, living in different countries, that I’m able to connect with a wide range of diverse and interesting people.

In addition to my private practice, I’m a registered member of Sporting Chance, a therapy network offering specialist support for ex-professional sportsmen and women and SIX MHS (Mental Health Solutions).

Please feel free to send an email or text, or call to make initial contact.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
