About us

Sometimes life can look as though it should feel good, while internally it feels very different. You may feel disconnected, overwhelmed, unfulfilled, or simply unsure why something does not feel quite right. At Harmonia, we offer a warm, non-judgemental space to explore what may be happening beneath the surface.

We recognise that the wider systems around us, from social media and family expectations to work and relationships, can shape how we feel, how we see ourselves and what we believe life should look like. These influences can leave us carrying powerful expectations about how we should look, love, parent, work and succeed. Our approach at Harmonia remains curious about both your internal world and the external pressures that may be making it harder to feel settled, connected or at ease.

We understand that these experiences can emerge at any stage of life. Adolescence may bring questions about identity and belonging; adulthood can bring relationships, careers, family and increasing responsibility; while later life may involve transition, loss, change and reflection. Sometimes the expectations attached to where we think we should be can become part of the difficulty themselves.

At Harmonia, we work with individuals and couples across a wide range of emotional and relational experiences, and have particular experience working with neurodivergent people, as well as professionals and leaders navigating responsibility, pressure or achievement. Life can appear successful from the outside while feeling very different internally. Therapy can offer somewhere to step away from the expectation to perform or have the answers, by offering a space to become curious about what may be happening underneath.

Our close attention to the relationship between the individual and the world around them is particularly important in our work with neurodivergent individuals. Harmonia’s ethos is strongly informed by a neurodiversity-affirming lens. We work closely with neurodivergent individuals both before and after diagnosis, as well as with those who may only just be beginning to question or understand their experiences. We recognise that neurodivergence can bring different strengths, challenges and support needs, and that distress may also arise through navigating environments that do not accommodate those differences. At Harmonia, we are particularly aware of masking, feeling misunderstood, or repeatedly adapting yourself to meet expectations, and understand that this can be deeply tiring and isolating. Our work aims to understand your experience as it is for you, rather than beginning with assumptions about how you should think or feel, because of a diagnosis.

Feeling different is not limited to neurodivergence. We can be surrounded by others and still feel alone, close to people yet unseen, or sense that something is not right without knowing how to put it into words. At Harmonia, we offer a collaborative, non-hierarchical relationship where your needs remain at the centre of the work. You do not need to arrive with the answers; understanding what you need can itself be part of the process. Together, we can explore this with curiosity and compassion, at a pace that feels manageable for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

All therapists working with Harmonia are qualified professionals, including counsellors, counselling psychologists and clinical psychologists.

We recognise that finding the right therapist is an important part of the process. During your initial phone call, we will take some time to understand what has brought you to therapy, what you may be hoping for from the work, and any preferences or needs that are important to you.

From there, we can think with you about which therapist may be the most suitable fit, taking into account their training, experience, therapeutic approach, and availability.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.
