About me

I am a psychotherapist and clinical supervisor with over 10 years of experience working in private practice in the UK. I am a published academic author with Routledge, New York.

Early in my career, I worked with domestic abuse survivors presenting with complex PTSD. This experience drove me to deepen my expertise in trauma integration. I went on to pursue postgraduate studies in neuroscience, focusing on the neurobiology of psychedelics and EMDR therapy. Realising that EMDR had similar neurobiological mechanisms to psychedelics, I decided to do an MSc in EMDR therapy, where I was taught by Derek Farrell MBE and Ad de Jong (EMDR 2.0) to treat complex presentations.

I work psychodynamically to address the impact of early experiences on the way we manage stress in the present. My postgraduate training in neuroscience means I understand how the brain structure is formed through person-to-person interactions throughout our lives. I have developed my practice to facilitate the healing of relational wounds in the most efficient way possible. On average, I work with people for 6 to 20 sessions, and I can generally tailor the work to your budget.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

WHAT IS EMDR?
EMDR IS A POWERFUL THERAPY THAT WAS ORIGINALLY DESIGNED TO TREAT PTSD, BUT OVER THE PAST 40 YEARS IT HAS BEEN ADAPTED TO TREAT A WIDE RANGE OF PSYCHOLOGICAL ISSUES. IT IS BASED ON NEUROSCIENTIFIC RESEARCH SHOWING THAT WHEN OUR BRAINS GET STRESSED, THEY ENCODE MEMORIES IN A FRAGMENTED FORMAT THAT CAN BE RE-ACTIVATED IN THE PRESENT, CAUSING UNWANTED REACTIONS AND BEHAVIOURS. AS WELL AS BIG "T" TRAUMA, THIS ALSO APPLIES TO LOWER LEVEL SMALL "t" TRAUMA, SUCH AS NOT HAVING NEEDS MET IN CHILDHOOD. WE CAN USE EMDR TO IDENTIFY AND THEN PROCESS THESE MEMORIES TO FREE YOU FROM YOUR SYMPTOMS.
