About me

Whatever it is that has been troubling you – maybe a mounting feeling of anxiety in these difficult times, a life change such as a shift in work patterns or a bereavement, or simply feeling consistently sad – I completely recognise how difficult it can be to ask for emotional support. I strongly believe it’s very normal to have psychological difficulties – and that one of the most powerful things you can do to address these is to see a therapist. For that reason I’d urge you to email or text me in complete confidence to arrange a time for a free telephone consultation to see how we might best work together.

I am a fully qualified integrative relational counsellor based in North London, and a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and British Psychological Society (MBPsS). This means I adhere to these professional bodies codes of conduct and ethical frameworks.

My own journey to becoming a therapist started with a period of loss and change in my own life during which I discovered the benefits of personal therapy. This is turn led me to working as a volunteer with the Samaritans organisation for some 5 years, during which time I gained a strong appreciation of just how much active listening can help people strengthen and trust their own instincts as to what is best for them. During my time with the Samaritans, I also worked in their school outreach programme, and exploring mental health issues with young people remains a passion of mine. During my training as a therapist I worked (and continue to work) with MIND in Tower Hamlets and Newham, working largely with bereavement, where I learnt to appreciate the importance of exploring significant figures and moments in one’s past and how these may be connected to what you may be experiencing now.

Out of all this grew a core belief in the uniqueness of each individual and of the experiences and relationships that may have led you to seeking therapy. Being an integrative counsellor means that I draw on different approaches and techniques (Person Centred, Psychodynamic, and Existential) depending on your own unique needs. My aim is to build a trusting relationship within a confidential framework that will help you to better understand what is going on for you, both in terms of your present circumstances and the patterns in your life. Our goal will be to create increased self-awareness and self-acceptance, which can aid positive life changes and personal growth.

I offer weekly therapy sessions for adults on a long, medium or short-term basis.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

Before qualifying as a psychotherapist, I worked at a senior level within a creative industry. This, combined with my continuing part-time work in this industry, gives me a particular interest in working with clients from corporate and creative backgrounds. A particular focus of my study in completing my Psychology MSc was the effects of work pressure, and how people can best be supported from the adverse effects of this of this, particularly at moments of significant change.
