About me
Hello, my name is Emma, and I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood and supported as you explore whatever may be happening in your life.
I understand that reaching out for counselling can feel daunting, particularly when you are struggling with difficult emotions or life experiences. My aim is to create a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace, without fear of judgement.
I have a particular interest and experience in working with grief and bereavement. I facilitate a bereavement group in collaboration with a local funeral director and work with Tŷ Hafan, supporting families who have experienced the devastating loss of a child. This work has given me a deep appreciation of the many different ways grief can affect us, and of how personal and unique each person's experience of loss can be. I recognise that grief has no set timeline, and that there is no right or wrong way to navigate it. Whether you are experiencing a recent loss or carrying grief from many years ago, I offer space for you to explore your feelings and find your own way forward.
Alongside my work with bereavement, I also support people experiencing anxiety, depression and the challenges that can come with everyday life. You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected from yourself or unsure how to move forward. Together, we can explore what may be contributing to these feelings, develop a greater understanding of yourself and find ways to help you cope.
As an integrative counsellor, I draw on different therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs, recognising that no two people or experiences are the same. Our work together will be guided by you, your experiences and what feels most helpful for you.
I believe that everyone deserves to feel listened to, valued and understood. You don't need to have all the answers or know exactly what you want to talk about before beginning counselling. Sometimes, simply having a space where you can be yourself and speak openly can be the first step towards change.
If you feel that I may be the right person to support you, I welcome you to get in touch. We can take things one step at a time, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

For 15 years, I worked closely with children and young people (aged 3–18) who have complex disabilities and additional learning needs. During this time, I also supported parents and caregivers, helping them navigate the emotional and practical challenges of care. This experience gave me a deep understanding of how life’s difficulties can affect us at every stage - and how important it is to be heard and supported without judgement.
Alongside my counselling work, I’ve volunteered with local charities including Newport Mind, where I contributed to wellbeing groups. I have also supported both men and women who have experienced domestic abuse, offering space for recovery, reflection, and empowerment.
I am registered with the BACP and work to their standards and ethics.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
As a mother of two who has experienced postnatal depression, I am passionate for supporting parents. I understand how overwhelming and isolating this time can be, yet society tells us we should "enjoy every minute". This can create a pressure to not express your struggles and frustrations for fear of being judged, leading to feeling shame or guilt. This is why I offer a warm, non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings with care and support and be seen as YOU!
I also feel very passionate about ending the stigma for men to be "tough," leading them to not show their emotions and feelings. I have worked with a lot of men in my practice and feel it is important to recognise men need a safe space too.
I find being outside, walking, and exercising has a great impact on my mental health, because of this, I offer Walk & Talk therapy and have seen the benefits this can have on individuals. It can be less intense than the 'typical' therapy setting, leaving you more comfortable and engaged.
If any of this resonates with you, get in touch.
