About me

Whether you have a specific reason for starting therapy or you just know that you want to feel better, therapy can be a useful space to understand what is going on and how to manage it.

Before deciding on a first session, I offer a free 20-minute introductory Zoom call where we can discuss what you are looking for from therapy. This call gives you the opportunity to decide if I am the right fit for you as your therapist. This is vital, as being comfortable with your therapist is based more on how you feel when talking to them rather than what’s on paper.

If you choose to have therapy with me, then our first session may involve discussing what brought you to therapy and laying a foundation for future sessions, or we can dive straight into a specific topic you want to work on immediately. If you would like to set goals, we can do this in our first session, but if that isn’t your cup of tea, we can instead identify topics to explore in our sessions. Although I use a range of therapeutic approaches, I follow your lead on where you would like to take each session. If this feels a little daunting, I can help you find your footing with deciding where you would like to start.

After the first session, your therapy can develop into what you want it to be. It may evolve with different stages of development, but it will always remain a safe, non-judgemental space just for you.

Knowing when you are ready to end therapy can be difficult and looks different for everyone. However, a common sign is that you start to naturally regulate your emotions and handle the ups and downs of life with more ease and calm, knowing you have the tools to manage each situation.

Training, qualifications & experience

I use a range of techniques and approaches to provide the type of therapy you need at each stage of your therapeutic process. It’s a cliché but true- one size doesn’t fit all when it comes to therapy. Whether you want to explore, learn tools, or have a good vent, my training allows me to offer the space you need. With this in mind, I welcome regular check-ins during the therapeutic process to ensure our work together suits you at each stage.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Although I work with addictions, I do not work within the 12 Step/ disease model of addiction. Instead, I specialise in working with people who have chosen to leave a 12 Step group or people who do not align with that way of thinking.
