About me

I use a range of evidence based therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy (accredited practitioner with IPT-UK), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Compassionate Focused Therapy. A good therapeutic relationship is the foundation to therapy. I aim to provide a safe space where we can work together to develop a shared understanding of your experiences. Through development of a psychological formulation you will be able to identify your goals for therapy and this will help us to decide which therapeutic approach will best meet your needs. I am skilled in integrating therapeutic approaches to achieve your individual goals. We will work collaboratively on your goals for therapy. I aim to facilitate an environment where people can develop the knowledge and skills they need to live a fulfilling life.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been a qualified clinical psychologist since 2015. My training means I am skilled in working with people across the lifespan, from childhood right through adult life. My work within the private sector has predominantly been with adults. I have experience working with a wide range of mental health concerns, adjusting to life transitions and difficulties in relationships. Within my NHS job I work with children, young people and their families. I am highly skilled at adapting therapy for children / young people, working indirectly with parents and working systemically with families.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I am an accredited practitioner of Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT). This is an evidenced based therapy for the treatment of depressed mood. It is effective with adolescents and adults. The overarching aims of IPT is to improve mood and improve social functioning. IPT has four main areas of focus and could be the right therapy for you if a depressed mood occurs within the context of

1) a dispute with an important person in your life

2) difficulty adjusting to significant changes in your life

3) grief as a result of the death of someone important to you

4) life long difficulties with relationships
