About me
Hello & welcome to my profile information.
My name is Ellen and I am passionate about working with people who have been impacted by suicide. I can help you rediscover a new normal and a future to look forward to. I know & understand the pain of losing someone through suicide even if they are not a family member, I acknowledge that many people outside the immediate family are impacted by the loss a death by suicide can bring.
I also work with grief and loss, anxiety, work stress, family conflict and with those living with a life long medical diagnosis, also day to day issues that affect us in our ability to eat, sleep, work and function properly.
I currently offer one hour sessions after 5.30pm Monday to Friday and have some availability early mornings too. I am flexible with my working hours and will try hard to accommodate you. I specialise in one-off sessions for 90 minutes for those who are looking to try person centred counselling or are unable to commit to regular sessions for financial reasons or due to time constraints but yet need to offload their worries to someone who is non-judgemental and will work with them to find solutions to their own issues within themselves.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified counsellor and am a registered member of BACP.
I have extensive training in working with those impacted by suicide and specialise in working with people who have experienced this situation. I also work with general bereavement, grief & loss as well as anxiety, depression, family conflict, recovering addicts, work-related stress, suicide ideation and low mood. I am trauma-informed and will hold a safe space for you to explore your thoughts and emotions.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Fees
£50.00 - £75.00
Free initial online session
Additional information
I charge £50 for a standard 60-minute session, normally these sessions are continuous and I am flexible in terms of the frequency. Person-centred therapy works best when sessions are done weekly, but can still work well when done fortnightly or monthly. I am happy to consider all options.
I also offer one off 90 minute sessions for people who just need to offload something they are holding onto. I provide a safe space for you to talk it out and let it go. These sessions are often very helpful for people who are not sure they want to have several sessions of counselling or those who might like to try a talking therapy to see if it's right for them. They are often useful for people who are unable to afford continuous sessions or for those who may not be able to commit their time to regular sessions each week.
A one-off 90 minute session costs £75.
