About me

I am a fully qualified Therapeutic Counsellor, and a Registered and Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) with over 12 years experience.

I work cross country and offer support for Therapeutic Counselling within the Plymouth area (including videocall/ phone calls), and videocall or phonecall support for the rest of Devon, Cornwall, the South West, accross the country and Overseas.

I am passionate about supporting others and work in a non judgemental and inclusive way.

I provide Counselling Therapy For:

Anxiety, depression, grief, bereavement, work stress, family and relationship problems, divorce, self esteem, attachment, inner child work, nervous system regulation, ADHD and ASD.

I am also trained in Couples Counselling.

I hold extensive experience and training working within the LGBTQAI++ community, and as mentioned above - with Autism, ADHD, AuDHD, including clients with disabilities and  chronic illness.

How I can help you:

I offer a free initial 20 minute call, where we will have an opportunity to meet and for you to talk through any questions or concerns about therapy before deciding that you would like to proceed with me.

Sessions can be as many or as few as you feel you need, and I work long term and short term with clients.

To aid best practice, I am also extremely committed to ongoing Continuous Professional Development by updating my skills and training through attending courses, seminars, and conferences each year.

During your first session:

I provide a safe, calm and confidential space, allowing you the time to be seen, heard and understood. I  will support you in finding the answers that guide you to heal and move forwards positively again....even if at this early stage you might not know what or how that may be, or look.

What Therapy?

There are different types of Counselling Therapies, it can feel like a minefield. But we will  work closely together to work out which way is best for you, meaning I combine different types of therapies depending on a what your needs and goals are. This process is very personalised for each client, and we can talk more about this in our first session together.

The journey

Often, Counselling Therapy starts with a specific goal or aim, but can organically unfold and incorporate other layers of a person's life...it's  a natural part of the process.  I will support you in a non judgemental and compassionate way, going at your own pace to help you feel more empowered to be able to deal with things you might be struggling with.

All you need to do is to take the first step of that journey.

A little background:

During and post qualification, I worked with a Charity very close to my heart that specialises in grief, loss, trauma and fertility issues, and I continue to  offer my time there alongside my Private Practice work. Post qualifying, I went on to work as a University Counsellor, and now primarily work in Private Practice, and in MH support roles, both face to face and online with clients accross the UK and beyond.

Prior to starting my career in MH, I worked  in Education and  Teaching, primarily in Health, Wellness and Holistic Therapies, and taught in the UK and overseas.

I have previously trained with and worked wiith organisations such as Victim support, AgeUK, Samaritans and Mustard Tree Cancer support  alongside my main work.

Ultimately, retraining in Mental Health was a natural progression, and has ultimately incorporated a rich tapestry of past learnings and career pathways organically, which today enables me to support my clients - in a holistic way.

Side note:

I know, through personal experience it can feel overwhelming looking through this Counselling Directory trying to find something...someone to help, and possibly feeling uncertain of the way forward.

Just trust the process....

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
