About me

Firstly, I would like to say hello and welcome. For some of you, I know even browsing can be a huge step and it has taken a lot to get here.

Having taken that step and as you have chosen to browse my page, let me give you some idea of what you can expect if you choose to take up sessions with me. My training is Integrative which means that your sessions will cover what is present for you in the here and now and help to you to get a sense of where you are and also your unconscious desires and motivations as well as your history. I work holistically, taking all aspects of you, the client, into consideration; mind, body, heart and spirit. Of course, working in a client led way if you do not wish to bring any of these aspects into the room, this will be respected. However, all aspects are welcome.

This 50 minute space, once a week will provide the opportunity for you to be with you without the distractions of your daily life. How often do you actually take time out for you? I would like to hold the space for you to be present in your experience, maybe you have become an observer or bystander in your own life? Are you finding it difficult to cope? Maybe you want a change. Whatever it is that has brought you to therapy, I would like to invite you to choose you and work with me to uncover the answers that are hidden inside of you.

I have face to face availability on Monday mornings.
Online and phone sessions are available, contact for more details.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Diploma in Integrative therapeutic Counselling. I am a Registered member of the BACP and hold insurance to Practice, all things that may be able to provide you with some assurance that I will be working in your best interest. Some areas my clinical work has covered are as follows

  • Childhood trauma
  • Familial Abuse
  • Co-dependence
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Existential questions

My background covers criminal justice, social care, statutory and charity sectors and private sectors. I have worked with varied clients. My work has included casework and advocacy, management, support work these included; risk assessing, emergency planning, managing medical emergencies abroad, crisis management within Court and community settings. I worked with clients who experienced Mental health issues, trauma, domestic abuse, sexual violence and violent crime.

This is relevant to my therapeutic work as it enables me to remain calm and hold clients at their most vulnerable moments. It also helps me to bring a keen attention to detail, which translates into me being present for and with you. As well as respecting your confidentiality and placing value on your right to choose. It may be difficult to present with certain issues due to fear of judgement, sharing my experience with you is to allow you to see that having worked with and been exposed to many different types of situations, behaviours and actions, I will be able to hold what you choose to bring.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I am interested in social justice, equality, and victimisation. There is something about having an understanding of the unbalanced position that any minority group holds, not just in terms of race but any marginalised group that causes me to pay close attention. To listen to the stories of those who may only whisper when the World is shouting at them telling them who they are, aren’t, should or shouldn’t be. When we work together, I will be take care to be sensitive to anything you bring that you may feel has previously been ignored; your race, sexuality, sexual partners, religion, social economic circumstance, age, beliefs, education not just because these are some of the areas protected by law but because I am deeply passionate about being inclusive and creating a space where you can bring the parts of yourself you usually feel you have to check at the door. All parts of you are welcome.
