About me
As life is varied so to is my counselling practice. Being mindful of your unique experience I offer a space for you to reconnect with your sense of self, discover the path to personal fulfilment, and release your potential.
Using a person-centred approach I provide genuine care and understanding; allowing you to move from an experience of being stuck, to an experience of growth.
I myself have experienced the powerful healing that can come from connection, warmth, and caring. My commitment is to be alongside you in your process of change.
My interest is in helping clients to voice experiences in ways that feel meaningful to them, so they can move forward in good health.
Areas I work with include anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationships, identity, stress, trauma, and sexuality. This is not an exhaustive list and there is no requirement to present with a singular issue.
Training, qualifications & experience
Over the past 15 years I have worked extensively within counselling delivering one-to-one sessions, facilitating therapy groups, managing services, supervising counsellors, and training counsellors at university. My clientele hold diverse experiences and are aged between 5 and 95.
My current practice base is within Linlithgow where I offer face-to-face, online, and nature counselling. In addition to this I offer counsellor supervision and training in counselling and psychotherapy. I hold significant experience of each mode of delivery and I have worked in a range of settings; from the bustling east end of Glasgow to the remote isles of Isley.
I qualified as a counsellor in 2008 with a diploma in counselling and psychotherapy. Other significant qualifications include a certificate in counselling supervision, masters in information studies, and certificate in alcohol, drug, and mental health studies. In addition to this I am committed to my continuous professional development and pursue interests in identity, group work, and living authentically.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
It is important to choose a counsellor you feel comfortable with, as the quality of the relationship is central to healing. With this in mind the first session is dedicated to forming a trusting relationship.
It may be that you have questions and I will be happy to respond. Likewise, you may want space to share something of yourself; what brings you to counselling, struggles you have encountered, and areas where you hope for change.
All first sessions are unique and will be lead by the needs you share as we get to know one and other.
The initial session is offered at the reduced rate of £35.
Further information
I qualified as a Supervisor in 2010 and supervise using a person-centered approach.
As a supervisor my approach assumes the social world we inhabit consists of many realities, rather than one concrete reality. So I work to facilitate your understanding of clients, so clients might better understand themselves.
By attending to the dynamic change processes that occurs through reflective practice I hope to enhance your awareness so that you can fully encounter clients.
A passion of mine is finding authentic experiences that have lost, or never found, a voice. I am interested in social justice, diversity, and equality and work to support supervisees in reaching their full potential.
As a supervisor I facilitate an egalitarian relationship with supervisees, while ethically holding clients in mind.
Sectors I have worked in include homelessness, addiction, schools, community and adult education, social care, social work, sexual abuse services, and mental health services.
My portfolio consists of private practice and tutoring at university. I find this balance of practice and tutoring allows me to offer a well-rounded supervisory experience.
